Some people are in hysterics, don't remember this response when Brodie Holland felled Paul Williams behind play

What exactly are the differences, Brodie Holland is a model, Barry isn't quite? Or resentment of the the McGuire incident?
Do you really think Holland's hit was as bad as Hall's?

Hall effectively K.O'd Staker. Holland may have had similar intent, but the damage wasn't anywhere near as severe in my opinion.

The hysterics over here in the media is getting ridiculous. So far, we've had comments from Stakers parents, his grandmother and various "experts".

In The Worst Australian newspaper this morning, a big back page article by some bloke who was punched by Barry in a reserves game in 1997 saying "I knew he would do it again". Also there are comments by John Greening a Collingwood player who was punched in the jaw in 1972, Mark Bickley who was the offender in 2002, shattering Darryl Wakelin's cheekbone and Russell Morris who was knocked out in 1988.

Is there anybody else that hasn't commented? Perhaps we should ask Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton how many weeks Barry should get? Maybe the Queen could throw her 5 cents worth in too? I know....we haven't asked the netballers or the Australian Olympic team or the Pope what they think!!

I'm not condoning what he has done, nor am I defending him (ok, maybe slightly but I did feel ill when I saw saw it), but damn, he did what he did, it was a disgraceful act, now people (well maybe just the media) should build a bridge and get over it. What's done is done and no amount of whingeing or comments from ex players back in 1972, grandmothers, doctors or priests is going to alter his punishment when it comes.

I think mass murderers, rapists and in-house trading stockbrokers get more of a fair trial???

PS. Apart from typing and press the Send button, I'm pretty much computer illiterate so can't post a link, sorry!!!

I went to look for the article you refer to Schneiderpig so I could post it, but I couldn't get past the Worst Australian's poll (and it's resuts) ...

How long should Barry Hall get ?

        4 weeks - 12%
        8 weeks - 25%
Rub him out for the season - 63%.

Good grief. Are they they only choices??

        What a load of crap.

Anyhow, back to finding the article ....

There are a couple of enlightened souls on the Letters page who say Barry should go the whole season and then be charged with assault.

This, coming from supporters of a club that have been "Holier Than Thou" in the last 12 months?? From my experience of E-gurls supporters, they are all bandwagon jumpers. Watch them jump off this year when their team remain near the bottom of the ladder.

            Staker=softcock.

What Bazza did wasnt good, but it wasnt a king hit.

He hit him front on this=Not a king hit

If he had of hit him in the back of the head or from the side this=A king hit.

Now staker looks like a big girl with his mum carrying on.

Bazza has been hung drawn and quarted already.

The media has hung him out to dry.

Like the Underbelly situation(court cases) in Victoria,it should be put on the back burner for a while to let things simmer down.

Lets not loose perspective of the game,it was a great win by the Swans over an arch rival.Which was marred by i silly split second action.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

Totally agree Swantastic. If it was another Swans player that did it, like say, oh I don't know....Jude....would there be the same amount of hysterics??

Not at all. Melbourne press think the sun shines out of Jude's butt. It would have been "a mistake" and they would have been braying to go easy on him.

Welcome back Big Bad Bustling Barry Hall. Geez I missed him.

When he returns to play for the Swans against the Weazles at Subi, we will be there to "Applaud what he has overcome"!!

I think he'll only get back for that game if he gets 6. Unlikely, but I know where you are coming from.
