Tough start for the kid, but he looks okay.

Seems like he can find the ball and can use it most times. Running style was very tentative (tippy toey like) but i guess it's like that for a first gamer.
Worth persisting with.Official Driver Of The "Who Gives A @@@@ As The Player Will Get Delisted Anyway" Bandwagon.

But hard to judge Smith given he was thrown down back in the last half. Seems to know where the footy is but a couple of times he got the footy in heavy traffic and it was almost : "oh strewth what do I do now", but thats merely finding the pace of the game to a point.
Bird is a bit the same. He seems to hold onto the footy thinking he is still at Under 18 level and that he can just shrug players off. Got caught a couple of times like that today and has done in other games. Needs to learn to go with the first action when under severe pressure. At least he had a ping from 40 instead of stuffing around with a nothing pass.Comment

NS was ok today for a first gammer. Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

I thought Smith looked great. He didn't shy away from physical contests, and played above his weight division. He also had a bit of Melcho about the way he ran the ball. Early days yet, but he didn't look out of place at all. He also had a couple of really nice touches in defence under pressure. He turned the ball over a couple of times, but these were handpasses under immense pack-pressure, so I think that's excusable. It was good to see him in the packs at all. So yeah, I was really quite impressed.Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!Comment

Good effort by the kid.14 posssessions is pretty good first up.Needs to improve his disposal but that will come.I was impressed with his tackling efforts. For a slightly buit kid he has plenty of courage and isn't afraid of the bigger bodies.
It certainly was a baptism of fire for Nick but he certainly passed it.
A job well doneComment

VG!!
Thought the kid went OK against the absolute cream of the crop.
Have personally seen nothing of him though can see why he has been promoted to the senior group.
Sure made some balls ups though was pleasantly surprised how he aquitted himself yesterday. Worth th epunt and keep rolling with the kids !!Est 1874

Roll on the Young Bloods, Nick did not disgrace himself at all yesterday. HTB seems to be called a lot quicker on the younger kids IMO."Fortunately, this is the internet, so knowing nothing is no obstacle to having an opinion!." Beerman 18-07-2017Comment

Had no trouble finding the football and moved well when he had it, but in all honestly wasn't really ready for senior football (especially in a game against Geelong).
Both Schmidt and Laidlaw would have been playing if ready and Thornton if not for the knee injury so still along way from the 22.

The kid managed to get the ball a few times. Kudos.
Now the kid has to learn how to dispose of it effectively. I hope he doesn't take as long to learn it as McHack did!!Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

He disposes of the ball well in the magoos, I think he was just a bit overawed by the situation. He's probably equal first on the chopping block with Brennan, but I'd like to see him given another game just to see if he can settle a little. Geelong on Saturday was a tough first up order for a debutant.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment
