As I posted in the reserves thread.............

Don't expect too much from Spida anytime soon, if ever again.

No pre-season and limited preparation (we're not even sure if he lined up for his first game today) will mean his output will be extremely limited in the short term and quite possibly limited in the long term.

He looked ordinary at times, but that's to be expected coming from the Canberra league and facing the 'unstoppables'. Made some costly errors and the MMM commentary team made quite a big deal of them during the first quarter.

I think we should give Everitt a couple of weeks in the seniors just to see if he's still got it. If he doesn't perform then get rid of him for good.

It will take Spida at least half the season to get right.

It will be tough for him no doubt but there is no reason why he won't be as valuable if not more valuable for us this season, particularly with a midfield that seems to be adopting a much more attacking mindset.

On saturdays form....Davo needs to produce next week or he could again find himself in Canberra.
... exactly. I'll drive him if the need arises!!
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Damn, right DST. Everitt MUST go straight in to add some power to that forward structure. And Roos has to persist with Davis. He's just too talented a player to be omitted, especiaqlly with Hall out.

You must have been watching a repeat of a reserves match. Smith contributed too many clangers and looked out of his depth. Give him match time against lesser clubs to build confidence but blooding him against Geelong was a mistake.

I don't think there was much to choose between his debut and Bird's. Both got the ball similar amounts of time. Both did some OK things and got caught out at times with the speed of the game.

Not that different, either, to Jack's two games last season.

Given the current state of the injury list, who do people think was running around in Canberra yesterday afternoon that would have done a better job than Smith? The only other realistic option Roos had was Mathews. I can't see that Mathews instead of Smith would have made a smidgeon of difference to the outcome. And one would have been a step backwards while the other is looking forwards.

I would've preferred Mathews. I'd take an experienced player on the back end of his career over a debutant when you're playing the league leaders

Jesse White is nowhere near AFL ready in my opinion, I think he will be great one day but he needs a bit more time to develop. Bring back the more experienced players first, Grundy etc, and leave the "too experienced", ie, Mathews and Crouch to coach the younger players.

Agree. An extended run as a forward in the seniors may be exactly what Grundy needs.
