I thought he was favouring established but mediocre players over young, exciting but inexperienced players over the last two years, but their improvement this year over their performances last year suggest that this was a perfect time to bring them in. And I was as angry as the next fan when Roos traded Schneider and Dempster for a second round pick, but we haven't felt their absence at all, really, and we got a promising youngster out of it. I still reckon we could have gotten more for those two players, maybe a young fringe player from the Saints as well, but it's not looking like too bad a trade at all.

I dunno, I guess what I'm saying is that while what Roos does may seem illogical at the time, you can't really fault his results.

See what you are saying - but I think you may find that Buchanan has lost some of his spark since his 'twin" Schnieder left. He isnt getting in and doing as much, to the point he is rarely noticed (but that is just my observation) and as for connolly's mate Bevan, well that boy has terminal turnover syndrome.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Bevo's got no footy smarts. He might be brave, but makes some very stupid decision. Something like Matthews. I think he'll be our next Matthews and therefore our regular whipping boy.

Perhaps a really "smart"player wouldn't run back into a pack or stand the channell with monsters bearing down on him. Does smart = "@@@@ I'm not going to put my head in there?" If so Davo is the Einstein of footy.

Disagree Wardy... I think Bucky's gone up a notch or two... Looks to me, like he's determined to stay in the team. A good outcome for him and a wake up call that he probably needed.

I think he has been quiet and not done much at all - not like how he was in years past but each to their own, except when it comes to Bevan - he is a just a waste of a spare jumper!

Oh, please, you're being really silly. Go somewhere and suck on something.

I've though Buchanan has been fine this year. No worse than last year, at any rate, if not better. And Bevan has played better this year, and he has probably done enough to stay in the side for the time being, but when we get a full team on the park, I don't think he should be part of it. Will he be? Only time will tell.

Why was Malthouse so keen to keep him then? Malthouse actually said first "We are disappointed that Nick Davis is gone". He was annoyed with Davis because they thought (and hoped) he would stay. Davis probably would have played better if he had stayed. Lucky for us he didn't, otherwise we'd still be waiting for a flag!

Ah, but if a bludger like Davis could kick 4 in a quarter imagine how many Bevan would have kicked (and how much time he would have spent unconscious) given the opportunity. The game would have been done and dusted before time on in the final quarter (and Bevan would have been unable to recall more than 5 minutes of it!)
