Bevo distributes the ball out of defense a lot by passing to the runners ( Irishman, Mattner or when he's back Esky). Quarterback describes that task pretty well. More creative than a sweeper. If this offends why not just call Bevo a good young disciplined footballer who plays his alloted role very well?Bevo bandwagon driverComment

exactly - if you listen to Leigh Matthews at the '05 presentation he even said that Bevo must be thinking "gee did I deserve this?" when he went up and got his medal. He got a medalion for doing about 5 minutes work - ,but his jumper wasnt even slightly soiled so that tells me he didnt do much at all - well, actually,he didnt!, but at the same time Bevan is not even close to having the talent and ability that Davis has.I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

No doubt they give us a picture of what he is capable of but they clearly do not represent the status of his current form, pretty poor based on what we saw on Sat.
Does he deserve more chances????? Not sure on this one. The trouble with his position on the ground is that with him playing poorly he is more exposed than some of his teammates and his sins get magnified. Given he is back in the team now and the opponents/venues we have coming up I'd certainly be giving him some more games to put it together, but it's got to happen soon.Comment

It would also be a great help if his fellow team members actually kicked it too him in a manner that its not 5 metres in front of him - or that they actually had a quick look out to the wings to see him generally standing in a space on his own - but nooooooooooooo they persist in kicking to a contest - So for Davo to fire - he needs to be fed well by the midfield when he makes leads - and we have all seen him do it hundreds of times only to be ignored. Yet if there was anyone who could kick it a mile and accurately then Davo is your man.I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

2007.
Just looking at 2006 numbers I see 13.8 disposals, 1.3 goals and 2.0 tackles per game. Not a bad return and yet people still say he's done nothing since that one game in 2005.

Some rave about how good MOL is and how crap Davis is, let's compare MOL's numbers with Davis' numbers.
MOL
2007 11.6, 1.7, 1.4
2006 12.0, 1.9, 1.5
2005 11.1, 2.3, 1.3
Past 3 years 11.6, 2.0, 1.4
Davis
2007 11.8, 1.8, 1.3
2006 13.8, 1.4, 2.0
2005 13.0, 1.7, 1.3
Past 3 years 12.8, 1.6, 1.5
Not a lot in it.
Look at the two games this year against StKilda and Geelong.
MOL 19 disposals, 0 goals, 3 tackles
Davis 24 disposals, 2 goals, 3 tacklesCaptain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

I think you need to factor goal assists into those figures. (even if it's just to get you to do more work)He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

I always wonder about the use of assists though.
For example, on the weekend the ball was kicked into our forward line (poorly as usual) and Davis had a one-on-one battle with Harley. Davis coralled the ball, protected it from Harley, and then was able to give a nice handball to MOL who kicked a nice pass to Bolton for the goal. Both essential in the goal but only MOL gets the assist. Given he is a major forward target close to goals it's hardly surprising he will get more assists. Not a meaningful difference in any case.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

See: Andrew McLeod.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment
