Bevans F50 work on Sunday certainly made a few people sit up and take notice. I think he can be a dangerous small forward.

It's a hypothetical. Along the lines of our best side. I don't see Bevan in it until Barry retires.
I find it bizarre and quite amusing that people can really think Bevan is clearly in our best 22 when we have our full-strength team, and that he effectively plays a multitude of different roles. The benchmark he is measured on is so low that there is little point in having it. Currently he's a fringe player at best. The most amusing part are the roles Connolly invents to describe his play
He still doesn't play the multitude of roles you suggested - he is predominantly a defensive player, whether back or forward. He has popped up a few times to add goals, which is good, but he's not a quarterback or anything like that. Your penchance for exaggeration on a few related topics is well known and documented.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Yes, Bevan is now looking like he has secured his spot for the time being. He hadn't then, but his game has continued to improve. As I noted recently he is looking like finally becoming a good ordinary player, but still has some way to go.

1. Defender on small forwards (Grant etc)
2. Defender on tallish mobile forwards (Brennan)
3. Quarterback (defined as first receiver of the kick out making position between full back and half back, who then sets up the play forward)
4. Defensive/half forward flanker
5. Small strong marking forward pocket
6. Tagging midfielder
7. Chief whipping boy on RWO

I think Bevan has genuine potential as an in and under midfielder. There was a piece of play in the first quarter against Carlton where he extracted a handball to a running Swan out of the middle as good as anything I've seen Kirk or Sam Mitchell do.
It's rare for me to praise Bevan but credit where credit's due."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

I think the only player on the list who looks like he could be suitable for #14 is Bevan, however I think he's maybe two years off that yet.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

I think most of us were as he was something of a surprise packet in 2004 (a bright spot in an otherwise dull year), though his debut year was not quite as impressive as Schneider's a year earlier.Comment
