Barlow might be a bit on the nose, but he's got nothign on this stuff CBBC Newsround | Sci/Tech | World's smelliest cheese is named

He wasn't great Sunday, but hitherto, had done okay I thought. He is effectively a first year player.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

I really rate Barlow, at least in terms of potential, but I have to say I don't think he is being played in the right positions. He is spending about 10 minutes of every game forward. I would love to see Roos just stick him at the top of the goalsquare (along with White to give him company) and let him learn on the job. Hopefully he'll get crunched in a couple of contests too and realise it's not as bad as it looks, because as somebody said, he really does need to "harden the @@@@ up". I noticed several times he was hanging off packs, trying to tackle with his arms outstretched and looking like he was bloody scared of being hit. I reckon he should have a couple of rounds in the ring with Bazza. Even if BBBBH only uses his left, he'll still teach young Cheese a lesson.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

I think barlow looks like he can make it. but schmidt and malceski look like they were immediately ready. i'm not sure about barlow yet. he gets lost in contests and doesn't appear to believe he's ready.

perhaps his problem is that he is not playing defensively - jack and bevan get led to the ball barlow has to find it himself

its funny because bird doesn't look ready yet either but is getting the confidence associated with getting caught in possession and learning faster as a consequence

I was watching him on Sunday. He was lost. Running around direction-less. He looked intimidated, like he was thinking too much and not trusting his instincts. I really rate him but he needs some confidence.

Don't you think he needs a clear role when he's on? I think these young players who get thrown around just can't settle and hence as you say an apparently talented player looks lost?

Being asked to play a pseudo-Goodes role must be incredibly hard for someone with so little experience. Goodes himself has evolved the role he currently plays, and has probably only being doing it for a handful of seasons. He learned by playing in the ruck, where you are effectively led to contests, and also spent time in key positions. And even now he sometimes get lost because he doesn't always get to the right places.

Goodes was also accused of being on the soft side early in his career and has himself admitted that he didn't particularly like the physical contests early on.

Similarly, O'Keefe has evolved his own role, starting as a bits and pieces player in the middle, spending some time as almost a key forward, playing a traditional HFF role, and now having license to run hard almost where he pleases.

I'm not even arguing for Cheese to be dropped.

My argument applies the old Chopper Read advice to Cheese: "Harden the @@@@@@@ up".
Some players are meant to be receivers and others go getter's.

Maybe Cheese is a receiver and all teams need those sorts of players,as we already have plenty of in and under players.

If he just floats around the out side and gets given the ball i dont care, just as long as he does some thing useful with it.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...
