Thomas is a good player. In time he may become a very good player. If he was at the Swans he'd certainly add something different to the team structure. But "one of the best players in the AFL"?? There are dozens of players from other clubs I'd rather see in the R&W than Thomas, if we got to choose someone to inject into the side. From Collingwood alone I'd take Cloke, (Heath) Shaw, Pendlebury, Medhurst or Didak well before Thomas.Comment

If we are picking someone to play this week, then I agree with you. But I think Thomas has more upside than all of those players. Up until 6 weeks ago Medhurst had been a major disappointment in my view.Bloods

I reckon Pendlebury has the most upside.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

I'd happily have him at the swans. Been a top player for a long time.
Pendlebury is the pick of the pies youngsters. Not sure about the question marks over his disposal. I think the pies really missed him in particular when he was out last year.He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

Looks like the change of scene has given Medhurst the bullet he needed. He looks really fit and you can't question his consistency this season. He's almost as good a kick as Nick Davis and has far more weapons in his armour in terms of marking (especially the fact he knows how to jump off the ground).
If I were picking just one of those, however, it would be Cloke by a country mile. He may not be more talented or even a better player than Shaw or Pendlebury but he's a KPP which pushes his value up. Last year his woeful conversion of straightfoward scoring shots placed a big question mark over him but it seems to be something he's addressed over the off-season. At this stage he's not achieved as much as Riewoldt but I reckon I'd prefer him to Saint Nick, even picking for now rather than the future.Comment

Yep, huge fan of Cloke. I'd probably take him first too, given that he's a CHF who takes a bundle of marks - they're not easy to find. I think I'd give him the nod ahead of Riewoldt too, but I suspect that we're in the minority there.Bloods

Roos: "I think he's a bit down in confidence and everyone goes through that as well. I think there's the issue with the pressure things [his tackling and on-ball pressure in the forward line] but I think a lot of it comes with confidence. Probably missing those early goals - he normally kicks those goals, and it could have been a really different story if he had.
"He probably got a little bit down on himself and that probably led to the spiralling effect on the game he had. I think he's got to get some confidence back and build himself back up as a real quality player that we know he is.
"Probably out of necessity with Hally out, we tried him for a couple of weeks - it didn't work and that's fine. But you'd like to see him have a really good solid month of hard footy and hard training and get his confidence up and make sure that next time he comes in, he's coming in with some real form behind him."Bevo bandwagon driverComment
