Our goal kicking efforts are very distressing at times.

The games against Saints, North and at a stretch even Geelong were winnable if we'd kicked straight for goal.

Our ball use around the park is woeful -- there's a vast gulf between us and the Cats and Hawks. Hard to credit in the age of professional footy.

The other problem is uneven intensity. Once again MIA for an entire quarter. Old age?

Good to see Roos sounding a warning that players who can't kick "will weed themselves out", but that goes well beyond 2008.

Maybe a week off in the room full of mirrors will help.

Here Here. Succesfully kicking for goals is all part of the game. If we can't kick goals, we can't win games.

In this recent instance, our opponents were magnificant, reminding me of an occasion in Round 18 1999, (an SCG Saturday night game), when Essendon kicked 15.3, but only kicked 18 scoring shots to 24, to beat us by 14 points.

Playfair will take a contested possession not like that weak piece of @@@@ Davis, and lets look at the Kanga's game Davis 2 shots almost directly in front and both missed.

Henry will be good trust me......

Our accuracy in front of goal has been a problem during the early part of the season for a number of years now. You would find similar threads to this appearing on RWO at about the same time in 2005, 2006 and 2007. I don't know what it is but I can only hope it improves as it did on those other years. The Dogs really showed us yesterday that it's just not that hard, especially if you are a professional footballer chosen to play up forward. MOL's 3rd quarter miss at the southern end from 30 metres out at a slight angle said it all yesterday.

And just before he kicked it, I said he was aiming too far right. Was sitting directly behind the line and could see his body was lined up at the right hand goal post, and with the breeze pushing the ball across the face yesterday, I could tell it was going to miss to the right.

It's a worry that MOL virtually refuses to take a set shot unless he has to. On a number of occasions this year he has played on and kicked over his shoulder - fortunately he is talented enough to convert but it's very risky.

Not sure if you're referring to Mick's first shot or Macca's 3rd - being lazy and not going back and reading through the thread. But the trajectory was almost identical. And then the Dogs had a shot in that exact same spot early in the 2nd quarter, aimed much closer to the left hand post and it sailed through the middle.

I don't whether it was more frustrating yesterday watch the Swans miss gettable shots, or watch the Dogs line up knowing with certainty that it was going to be on target.

It cost us 2 points last week and it looks like costing us 4 points this week.

If you can't kick straight, don't play in the forward 50.

People go on about how how good ROK is, well here's a home truth to ROK. You are at best an average player until you learn to regularly kick goals from the opportunities that present themselves.

For a club that prices itself on professionalism, today's effort on the scoreboard was unprofessional.
Spot on LA our kicking was @@@@.

The last 2 games, I was assuming he was trying to save a bit of time as they suddenly realised they were running out of time.

MMM commentary yesterday said (I think in the 3rd) that our goal tally thus far was 75 goals and 65 behinds.

                            Frankly, NOT BLOODY GOOD ENOUGH.

Our first problem is getting the ball at least into the half-forward line. That's where we fall apart.

Next, our accuracy at goal sucks. It has sucked for some time now. The only reason we've gotten so far as we have is that we have a great DEFENCE who regularly stop other (read: better) teams from scoring. If we didn't have the defence we have - we would have been a lot closer to the bottom in recent years. One mustn't forget that Roosey is/was one of the best defenders in the business. Of course our game will centre on defence.

Hopefully, we won't have to wait for Horse to take over the big gig to get in a game that concentrates on putting goals on the scoreboard.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Why does MO'L (your stand in ff) lead to the pockets so consistently? I assume the centre corridor is chockers?

He bagged three on the weekend, but you need a couple of others doing the same to put some scoreboard pressure on the opposition. Delivery into your fwd line was abysmal against the dogs.....
