Maybe I should have said "perhaps he still has a premiership credit or two left"

A number of people sitting near me yesterday expressed dismay when they realised that Matthews was playing and gave him much deserved stick on the numerous occassions he stuffed up. I just don't believe that he will keep his place in the seniors after such a dreadful performance.

Players like Matthews still have a role. We cant expect our young midfield to play 22 games straight in what is essentially their first year. Matthews et al, need to come in to give them a break and cover injuries.

Next year, he may not be needed though.

Maybe you were sitting near me... I'm not a huge poster on here, but a regular reader. I haven't thought much of Matthews for a long while but i've tried to hold back on the sledging, but yesterday, it was pathetic.

For the first few clangers, i sledged and yelled, and wanted to tear my hair out (shame i don't have much)...

By the time he kicked that thing (not sure if you could call it a kick) out on the full, i was in stitches, surely this was a comedy routine?

          Absolutely @@@@@@@**g useless.

Provided we don't have a horror run of injuries, I don't think he'll play again.

Benny was hopeless yesterday - I shuddered when I realised he was playing - clanger after clanger.

His sellection was not only a poor decision, but also poor border sercurity...his papers were stamped a long time ago..."never to play at AFL level again".
Scutiny of the dreaded leadership groups involvement is needed.

I think some balance is needed here.

Of course, he is on the way out. Of course, even at his peak, he was a plodder.

But when the kids you would introduce in his place are injured, you need to play him. If we field a team of kiddies we'll end up a basket case like Carlton were. Our young uns aren't the same pedigree as theirs either.

He wont play many more games that's for sure, but you need some older players out there.

I swore I heard the Benny Hill sax fire up on the PA after he let the ball roll through his legs.

A skinny 19 year old would be more value. I'm not kidding either.

Smith and Brennan weren't injured for starters..
We don't need a player, regardless of experience, who continually turns the ball over when in possession, and doesn't contribute when defending, only has eyes for his direct opponent and never helps others...we need him in the side like I need a migrane.

they must pick the team based on how crowded the lockers are, mcveigh and okeefe had a lot of space with hall and davis out, so chuck mathews back in the side.

credit to mathews he got a lot out of himself for someone with average skills and he was a handy player but he should of quit last year
Theres not much left to say

The guy behind me REALLY had it in for Matthews. Deservedly so. I was tempted to turn around and ask him who he is on RWO!!
