I'd love to see dinkum SOO footy and so would a lot of fans. I'd certainly prefer the Vics duking it out with SA and WA than another feeble Swans capitulation.

The clubs are understandably reluctant, but I can't understand why the AFL has never pushed it. This has got $$$ signs written all over it.

It's a joke and seriously if they get low ratings apart from victoria they have only themselves to blame. Why couldn't it be a true SOO..it's what the non victorian fans wanted.

But it's an insult to njon victorians. I mean the Big V? More like v vindictive.

I'm an "Ally", and I'll be watching. Or, I would be. 18th on that night. But I'll be watching the replay with interest. Seriously, all you bashers, get over yourselves. It's a game between two teams composed of the best of the best. I'll be hoping the Allies pump the Vics, and I'll enjoy watching what is sure to be a magnificent contest.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

            Go the dream team.

I think beer will need to be involved to make Saturday night entertaining.

Err, swap Roughead and Waite in the Vic side and you might be right. Also, Dal Santo into the centre and Robert Murphy on the bench, because Robert Murphy is a forward far more than he is a midfielder. Also, Heath Shaw at CHB?! WHAT?!

You also kinda need another ruckman for both the Dreamteam and Vics. Goodes won't ruck for the Vics, since he doesn't even ruck for the Swans, and the only ruckman you have for the Dreamteam is Cox. Take out Enright and put in Charman.

Anyway, looking over those teams, I hate to say it, but the Vics look a little stronger. They have a better midfield and forwardline, but the Dreamteam has a better backline. But I'd be tipping the Vics, I'm afraid. I'll be backing the Dreamers though!

Why should the Cornes brothers not get an opportunity to play for SA?

Not sure if I understand your reasoning there. I think there are several reasons including fixture issues, player demands, historical lack of support (from players and supporters), the now national SPREAD of the competition.

I think the concept of the 'dream team' is even more of a joke than the 'allies'. Either it is STATE of origin or it is no. You cannot be half pregnant.

I think they'd be better alternating the Gaelic footy and SOO over alternative years and with the SOO, rostering a round robin so Vic vs SA one year then SA vs. VIC and concurrently a second tier NSW, QLD, NT, TAS competition.

As it is, one off and and merged states against Vic, it is a mean nothing game.

It may well be great to see them all playing together, but geez, I am not a Victorian, so what do I really care in the end? Unless of course they played for the Swans!

No one is allowed to play for their state but Victorians, except to watch some no doubt classy footy, what is in it for anyone outside of Victoria?

So your 'this is the AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE' doesn't quite work.

This game IMO actually unfortunately gives credence to the view of a lot of people outside of Victoria that the AFL is simply the VFL + 6.

Add another 3 to your benches for both teams - playing 25 man teams for this game
