Foxtel might have something to say about. As usual they want as little games as possible on FTA. So, only games intially assigned to 7 and 10 would probably be shown on HD channel in paralel with SD, but not Foxtel.

Which would mean the Fri. night game. Still can't see Seven wanting to put that, even on seperate HD programming, up against League on Fri. night.

But you never know, with the Western Sydney Warriers coming on board the AFL might insist on it.

ugg, I had to be up at 04:30 for work so only watched the first 5 minutes to see if they teed off on Goodes. They banged on about the Melbourne presidency so I just had to go to bed.

I brought a HD set top box for $110 from Big W. Just plug it in and on 9HD you get the AFL footy show at the Melbourne time. You can also get Footy Classified on Monday night and I believe also Before the Game on 10HD and the Sunday footy show on 7HD in there Melbourne time slots. Definitely worth the investment!

You can get cheap HD set top boxes and I'd say it's worth getting one as a minimum investment. I paid $650 for a Topfield HD STB which has a 250 GB HDD and twin tuners. I did want the ability to record programmes as well.
I particularly like the Footy classified show on CH 9 Monday nights 10.30pm to 11.30pm : they at least stick to footy issues without the sort of crap that you get on The Footy Show ( which I still watch ..hehe!!!). And it's a good panel. It's just good to get any AFL shows in Sydney, we get inundated with NRL bull****. BTW, I remember last year ABC 2 was showing VFL games on Thursday nights: doesn't appear to be showing them this year?
CH 7 should have been able to use the HD station during the time it was showing the car racing because I can tell you I wasn't watching anything on 7 until 3.00 pm which is when the footy started.
