I certainly won't be changing my vote for Chappy! The guy was a gun, but it was just unfortunate that he probably went in a little too hard too often! I wouldn't have said he was "extremely" fagile but having said that he definitely did end up having a predisposition to concussions and foot injuries(?) from memory that ended up putting a sadly premature end to what should have been a good solid career. If he'd been able to stay healthy he would have played many more games for the Swans imo.

      Exactly.

Chapman definately played in the GF and foot injuries stuffed him.

Did his foot v Footscray in '97. Did the archilles in the other foot in a pre-season time trial at Centennial Park in '98, due to him favouring that foot for so long in the rehab on the other one. Just couldn't get back and is truly a tragic football story.

Got drafted by Port Adelaide in the national or pre-season draft when it became obvious to Sydney that his time was up. Port obviously knew how good he could be and took a punt. Unfortunately it didn't work out.

Chappy is best remembered for 'that pass', but he should be remembered for his work a minute from quarter time in the same game. Swans were struggling and were 3 or 4 goals down at that stage when he did some amazing heroics in front of the Members Stand. The memory is a bit hazy, some may remember, but he put his body on the line in a marking contest I think, took a frightful belting, but stood up and kicked the goal (or passed off for a goal) as the siren sounded. From that moment on, the Swans slowly climbed their way back off the canvas for the dramatic, well documented point.

Chapman was also renowned for getting the ball to boot in a pack quicker than many other players.

I loved Wade Chapman. As Rocket said he could make Strawberry Jam from ***#. Wonder what became of him

He didn't really look like an AFL player

Stibbard for mine, although I was only about 10 at the time, so that could have something to do with it.

I voted Chapman for 2 reasons.
              1) Ackerly was before my time.
              2) Who could forget his one special pass.
Surely Ern must have the best name in the history of the game?

Is it time to rule a line under this poll? Scott is taking longer to declare it than the Electoral Commission of Zimbabwe. Obviously Chapman (aka Candles -one blow and he was out) recieved a huge sympathy vote for his many knock outs and Ackerely attracted plenty of support from the lovers of soft cream puff wide receivers which over populate RWO. Still the third best No. 42 in the history of the red and white is a considerable accolade and the kid's career is only just taking off. When he hangs up his boots in season 2018 for the Bloods he will be rated the best.

Loved Chapman and his courage couldn't be questioned. But his physical build (he looked like a school kid playing against men) meant he had a relatively short career. If he played today with the current rules protecting the player over the ball and the Bloods current physical development program and medical management he would have had a longer career.

His career was cut short by FOOT injuries, absolutely nothing to do with the physical side of the game. Mind you, he may have run into problems later with his 'body on the line at all costs' style (reminds u of anybody ).

But the fact remains, the badly broken foot followed by the snapped achilles finished him, not his physique.

I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

                                There are only two explanations:
                                1. The Kid is achieving cult status
                                2. NMWBloods has come in the from the cold

Not a lot of room left on the bandwagon
