Call it the Bevan Stand and both the cricketers and at least one RWO member will be happy.
Another snub from the snobs

Presumably the colour scheme will be a tasteful bone? As for Waugh he has to be one of the worst sportsmen to ever captain an Australian team in any sport. If it has to be a cricketer whats wrong with naming it after the most exciting and best all rounder ever in the great Keith Miller. He played rules as well so that may be a compromise. Anyone but that Packer sniveller.Comment

Though I agree with your sentiment Julian some of the facts aren't quite right there.
All that said, when you think that we've had 25 out of the 110 odd years that the ground has been around, you would think that that might've earned us a "Lockett Stand".Comment

JF was right,a few years ago when the Swans threatened to leave the SCG the trust @@@@ their pants because they know how valuable the Swans are to them.
That is why the SCG trust did all the upgrades at the venue just to keep us happy.
I'm not 100% sure but i think the Swans have signed a tenancy agreement with the trust as to how long they will stay there. Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

Occupational hazards:
I don't eat animals since discovering this ability. I used to. But one day the lamb I was eating came through to me and ever since then I haven't been able to eat meat.Comment

Craig Bolton corrects the manners of kids getting autographs, if they don't say please or thank you he pulls them up on it and also if they push in front of other kids.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

I agree with this, and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who disliked Waugh's behaviour as cricket captain. The team had a reputation for aggressive tactics from the days of Ian Chappell, but it was during Waugh's time as captain when they became so notorious for poor sportsmanship. If the new stand is to be named after a cricketer, there must surely be someone more deserving than Stephen Waugh.Comment

He was also an excellent cricketer. Maybe he overdid the whole "mental disintegration" bit (seems like he had some early success with Julian) but played a record number of tests, scored a record number of runs, was tougher than Bevan and could (especially early in his career) turn it on like Davis in a Geelong SF. His contribution to Australian cricket is on a par with Lockett's contribution to AFL, yet his association with the SCG is longer and probably more meaningful than Tony's. I don't think the Swans have earned a grand stand yet (even if they may have paid for one).Comment
