I don't understand why Ch 7 has it on delay. Ch 9 always used to play it live.

A minor plus is that we get to see the '96 prelim final beforehand.

The difference was that under the old deal, 9 also had the 1pm game included, and obviously we played those, so we were live whenever that happened, but this deal is completely different and seeing it designed by 9 and Foxtel, it would have happened with both networks.

Exactly, 2.00pm starts are usually reserved for the Melbourne game.

Nothing channel 7 can do about it, this was the deal the AFL accepted when they took the channel 9/Foxtel bid and that was set-up to maximise Foxtel's Sunday back to back games but not having it go head to head from the start with FTA for one of the games.
