Robbo, you must know more than most - he helped the swans to a premiership and that looks pretty good on a CV. It is great seeing our team trusting our one on one opportunities in the forward line.

Don't mean to be negative but Playfiar's kicking is poor. Missed that set shot then OOB on the full when under no pressure. Kick in the centre that Hall marked was just crap.
His anticipation when the ball as coming on to the Foward Line in the last q was no good. Made him look very slow and almost as if he couldn't be bothered. I am sure was trying but he looked like he was going up and down in the one spot.

Craig Bird is not a strong kick and needs to work hard on spotting up a player. Was it his decision making and/or lack of vision that saw him kick to a leading saints player 5 metres in front of his man on 3 occasions? He gets where the balls at just and his handball is OK just needs to improve his kicking.

They said on TV that we won the centre clearances! Gee I thought they got a lot of clearances. I noticed J Bolton in there again and although he wasn't too bad he only got 1 clearance. We are just better at it without him in there.

Thought Ablett played his best game for the year.

Jack clearly had his best game. Found space and was very clean with disposal.

          McVeigh very good again.

Completely agree. I was speaking to my father after the game, and noted if Playfair does not improve his kicking, we might as well place someone like White in there. Playfair is creating a contest, but a youngster can do the same thing.

I still believe his run up for goal is suspect, just not fluent enough. You will notice the times he shanks the kick, he often stutters part way through his run in.

I thought Bird was pretty good in general tonight. He is brilliant in extracting the ball from packs. I agree with you plenty of improvement in him, which will come I have little doubt.

Stats suggest we won total clearances 38-26.
This is one area we have improved immensely. Sharking the opponents tap. Even in 05/06 we were poor at this.

I thought Ablett probably had his best game of the year. McVeigh continues to improve, especially his attack on the ball. Brilliant effort on the wing.

Plenty of good performers tonight without us ever really being in doubt. I think we could have won by plenty more, giving straight kicking. But I don't think we ever got out of 3rd gear.
It was a heavy track, so I will excuse the players for some interesting goal kicking at times.

this all warms the cockles of the heart....

we are playing a tough contested style of footy, which it seems has grown with sprinklings of flair and flow.

its amusing how the knockers of Sydney in the media of which there are many are now talking us up. Flag contenders now?....we always have been.

injuries going our way, top four finishing spot is well within reach.

McVeigh was always going to be a good player. Ablett will also.

Playfair alot of work to do

Cruisy win the media says, have to agree.

Don't get me wrong will take it any day of the week, if 4 or 5 of our behinds were goals it would have been a real smashing.

But what really gets my goat is St Kilda's/Ross Lyon's effort tonight. I just found it so weak. Flood, flood, flood - towards the end of the game their players were so busy flooding back that they applied no forward pressure to our kick ins. OUr pressue was great, many times during the game.

I thought jack was great tonight, hard running into space to create. Mickey o was really good, as was Goodes and OKeefe. BBBH was good, he should have had 4 goals minimum and I'm sure he will kick at least that many next week.

In addition to it being wet under foot it was fairly windy tonight. IMO breeze favoured the Paddington end.
Schwatta's commentary was dour and anti-swans, Snapper gave BOGs: 3 to Kirk, 2 to Riewoldt and 1 to McVeigh (IIRC), Luffy gave the W.O.Gs: 3 Milne 2 to Harvey & 1 to Jolly.
                  Bring it on!

Playfair I thought was poor but I thought Bird was quite good tonight. Did fantastically well to get the ball out of packs tonight a few times. His disposal is still not the best but his footy brain is growing- instead of simply throwing it on the boot a few times tonight he stopped and looked and found far better shorter options.

Ablett I thought had a very good game again tonight, he is hitting some nice form at the moment.

But generally it is very heart warming what we have been seeing recently. Granted it hasnt been the top teams of the comp, but if anything we are winning especially the last 2 weeks without playing anywhere near our best footy and that is what you need to do to have a hope for the 4. The big test begins in 3 weeks time against the pies at ANZ (I reckon there will be a mighty big crowd at that!), but so far so good this year. I am beginning to get a very good feeling about 2008.

get excited guys.....another tilt looms large. lets get our confidence up, like our boys at the moment.

we were a 50 point better side than st kilda...we owe collingwood so 3 weeks will be payback....50 points plus. lock it in

Competent win without ever really getting out of third gear. Maybe a bit dopey for bits of 3rd quarter but three goals in three minutes put nail in Stains' coffin. Pretty flabby effort from the Saints really. Riewoldt worked his butt off but he didn't have many mates.

It was man on man footy all over the ground. It wasn't like they just dropped back to clog space - they were there with an opponent. So in this case I'll stick up for Lyon and say he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't....

A solid yet unspectacular performance. Very scrappy early, but conditions sure didn't help. We did what we needed to do, the forward line seemed very functional and multi-dimensional, and our pressure and intensity were up, even if the skills weren't the best.

                          I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

the boo was for the poor decision by the ump, not Schneider.

Why would we? He didn't choose to be traded, he had no option.

A guy behind us was shouting "traitor" at him when he was lining up for goal in the third quarter. I told him that was an unfair comment as he didn't ask to be traded.
