LRT: The experiment has failed

I am fairly certain I am LRT's greatest critic. His performance last night further added to my views about his game. He is a liability when we have the ball. He gets the ball because opponents know he won't hurt you as he can neither accurately handpass nor kick the ball with sufficient penetration.
In defence he is just awful. He goes to ground easily, can't take a contested mark. Can't contest in the air strongly and sadly he is just hopeless as a third man up (does anyone remember gary ablett marking at cat park when he was standing two metres away but didn't go at the ball). Lastly there is no-one he can play on unless other teams play a playfair like player.
He is just not an AFL player.
But good luck to him for keeping a position in a pretty reasonable team.Comment

to be fair to LRT its been an unsettled year. He has been plugging gaps everywhere and was not awful as a back up ruckman.
Id leave him in the backline for a bit longer, if only because of the lack of height back there and well he is the tallest defender we have.Theres not much left to sayComment

Is that what he is.........a Defender...we are in trouble then..Comment

Totally disagree with the harsh comments being banidied about for players like LRT (and bevan). Saturday night was a team effort (albeit a terrible one).
We werent killed in the backline last night - 11/ 13 is not a killer attacking effort. LRT has had a very stopgap year playing either ruck, forward line at times and then in defence. We need him as a tall in defence. There is no way Leo and bolton can be used in the two key positions. Leo is at best now a third best attacker, back pocket player.
If you want to look to blame anyone in the backline it should be the socalled attacking backmen we have as Collingwood totally ran them out of the game (Mattner excluded here as he wasnt one of the worst).
LRT will always look awkward, his build alone makes him look this way. The main thing he needs to work on is his disposal when he has taken a mark or has time and space. He disposes better when he doesnt think too much about it. Soon as he does he seems to dither about looking to not make a mistake.Comment

when your team mates are putting the backline under pressure, and providing no options upfield, you will look ordinary.
especially a player who is not a natural like LRT
to call for his head after a team performance like that is ridiculours
you will see mid-field changes (Buchanan, Moore, etc) before anything else"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.Comment

"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."Comment

Walls stuck the boot in on OTC. LRT the "weak link" and every Collingwood attack went through his opponent. I didn't notice that and haven't watched the replay - is that a fair assessment?Comment

Certainly from the highlights they showed it was quite damning. Full credit to Malthouse if that indeed was the game plan."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk
