Davis' career is over. The sooner everyone realises this, the better.

I agree, he was in the better half of the team(actually I wouldn't put half the team in the better half, but I digress). Made a few silly errors, but mostly when under pressure.

i like davis and want him back. But last night he would of struggled to get the ball. I also doubt he would of got moved to the midfield to correct the delivery into the forward line.

We need someone who can kick it to the forwards next week.

Roos' comments the other day wouldn't indicate this is the case.

I honestly thought he was pretty hopeless last night, but he wasn't alone and everyone has a night like that.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I thought he looked rattled and completely out of his depth, I'm suprised to see people thought he was anything other than woeful. As I said earlier, it happens and I don't think he should be dropped- it was just one game and everyone else sucked too.

I think that is the whole thing about bevans game, the perspective. He was better than most, but that is not a great compliment. I also thought Jude was better than most, but again he was pretty ordinary.

I notice AFL.com has Bird in the best list. Except for the 1st goal, he was pretty quiet too. Even Moore only got into the game through some soft frees.

i remember wondering where moore was for most of the first half.

I was surprised to see bird listed as first in our best list on the herald sun website (presuming its in order) but i felt he got some quality touches and also seemed to do a few creative things, little tap outs of a pack that sort of thing. Was not the best game ever or anything but not too bad

Why does it not surprise me to see a thread on RWO calling for Davo's inclusion after last night?

Seriously, if the team is going to play as poorly as they did last night, we could do a lot worse than playing Nick if he's fit. He'd probably add more than Hall atm!

Why is it that when there's a thread about Davis, Bevan comes into it and vice versa? It seems if you love one you have to hate the other.

Bevan was not the worst player out there last night. There were times you could see the frustration on his face when he was mad at himself for making a mistake, but half the team were as bad or worse.

I'd like to see Davis back in the team but it's unlikely he would have made much difference last night.

I think it's quite interesting that most people's reactions have been that one player was close to beyond reproach last night (Kirk) and everyone seems to think there were maybe a couple of others who "went OK" but there seems to be a wide variety of views on who those were. I guess most of us were just desperately looking out for other players who weren't completely awful, most players would have done a few OK things, and we all remember or noticed different ones.

For me the couple who probably went OK were Jolly and Bird. I didn't think Jolly had his best game and his efforts in the ruck were largely unmemorable, but I thought he ran very hard to present an option and to complete marks when the ball wasn't kicked really to his advantage and he had to stretch.

I'm probably judging Bird's game by what I expect from an 19 year old in his first season rather than against an absolute standard, but I thought he tried hard all night and did some nice things - his goal being a stand-out. The HTB against him in the final quarter I thought was harsh. Yes, he had plenty of prior opportunity but I don't think he was genuinely tackled. From where I was sitting (and I haven't watched a replay) it looked as if the ball was knocked out of his hand as soon as the Pies player made contact.
