One of the folks at work just asked me if Wakelin would feel a bit guilty this morning, he admitted that Barry didn't connect and he was only trying to play up for the camera. Obviously Barry was a little silly and brought it on himself, but I wonder if there would be half the hysteria if Wakelin didn't go down.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

You have your answer. Hall has been suspended by the club for indiscipline and breaches of the code. There is no inequality of treatment with the Davis decision. In fact Roos has demonstrated beyond any reasonable doubt he is a strong leader and a great coach. This is a courageous decision forthe well being of the football club. The individual does not prevail over the collective at the Bloods. He has put the ethos ahead of a short term approach of tolerating Hall's breaches and lack of focus in the hope of winning tough games ahead. No club in my memory has terminated the careers of indisciplined and lazy players (Davis, possible Hall, Scnieder transferred, Dempster ditto) like this club. About time to admit you got it wrong. Waiting . . . .

At least he is hitting opposition players not his own, unlike half the Eagles team who fight each other.

Its almost certain he will don the gloves and pound the scones of the no hopers in the Australian heavyweight boxing division on the way to million dollars plus. Big, strong, fast men who can box (Barry ticks all the boxes) are dangerous in a confined space. If you think emotion has no part in boxing the career of Micky Ward suggests otherwise. Never won a world title but fought in two of the five greatest fights in history. All when he was over 33.
This link has some great music (Dropkick Murphy's) and stoushes (Mickey Ward).

To be honest, in all the replays I've watched I've barely noticed the reaction of Wakelin. My attention is on Hall's clinched fist and elbow narrowly missing Wakelin's head.

Thats right. But neither of them come out of this with much to feel proud about. Halls indiscipline and Wakelin's cynicism

As I said, Barry brought it on himself.

Barry is being crucified. Give him his week off then get him back on the track ASAP. I respect that we have a 'Code' but for Chrissakes, Hall is our most damaging forward. As a paid up member I want him out there. I feel pretty pissed off by the Swans' overreaction to this. And its not like me to get pissed off with my team.

What the hell does ?standing down? mean anyway. What a lot of bull. The bloke swung or attempted to push his marker. No-one died. He gave away a few kicks. So did a few others. What about others who kicked straight to the opposition. Want to ?stand them down? too!?!

The whole ?Bloods Code? mumbo-jumbo seriously gives brings the bile up in the back of my neck!

Get the bloke his week off. Fair enough. Those are the stupid tribunal rules.

He is still, however, our most potent forward, so as soon as that?s done, get him back on the park!!!

The hysteria about all this is such a joke. I think back to how the Irish were called all kinds of ?pussies? etc after the last IR fiasco, but the treatment of one punch and one attempted punch by Barry Hall, you?d think he?d committed a crime against humanity!

                      P.S. Walls is an idiot.
                      Agree with all of this.

Barry deserves to be dropped - for a week only.
Gotta hurry and sort out them "issues".

                            Contradictions everywhere!

The same people who wanted Cousins hung, drawn and quartered and banned for life are now saying Hall is being harshly treated and should be allowed to play next week. The Eagles were too soft while the Swans are too harsh.

I don't agee with that, despite what many people say on here this is a serious issue.

Clearly the club beleives that they can not allow Hall to take the field in his current state as they feel he could be a danger to other players. He is also a danger to himself at present, because if he hits someone else like he did with Staker and almost Wakelin, I would bet my last dollar that legal action and criminal proceedings would then be involved.

The club owes a duty of care to the compertition and a far greater duty of care to make sure they don't allow him to play again until both parties feel he has got his temper under control, which is clearly not the case at present.

AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou applauded the Swans' decision to make the hard call on Hall.

"I commend the Swans and I will commend all clubs who feel it appropriate that if they sign up to a set of standards at the beginning of a season with their leadership group that they follow through with their actions," Demetriou said.

"You have to congratulate the Swans, they are a club who I do believe are true to their word."
