Unless there were injuries last week, I imagine it will be Goodes in for Hall as the only change, and Playfair will be at CHF. Which won't have the Hawkes too worried. Croad will match up on him well. I agree with others that Brennan, who's form has been good in the 2's, should be given a chance as a forward flanker, esspecially against his old club. He's fierce at the ball and a great mark. As soon as he takes possession others, who can kick, should be running past for the receive.

Are we all forgetting Davis, or just ignoring that he's in the team altogether?

Grundy - hasn't shown the ability to worry defenders and kick three or four goals - not good enough mark and doesn't have the desperation.
Brennan - Can take a mark and quick on the lead ... but won't mark the ball when it has been dropped on his head and just can't kick straight, although will tackle hard and may be able to keep the ball locked in the forward line. - no
Currie in to ruck and rotate everitt and jolly through full forward - mick o up to chf - good but micky o a bit slow can't do long leads and gets tired - a maybe

Goodes to CHF bring in a midfield runner, needs to a tackle breaker 'cause thats what goodes bets attribute is - Barlow - best option but I am reading reports Barlow' game has dropped off.

What are the other options - how have other teams exposed Hawthorn's defence. talls or small forwards?
Grundy. Remember that when he debuted, he was a terrific mark. Had super glue on the hands. Problem was, it didn't last.

Has the most potential as a tall forward methinks.
Captain, I am detecting large quantities of win in this sector

            I think Davis is injured??

With Barry out I would like a player FWD like Brennan, he is hard and aggressive at the ball and he can break a line.

            Cheers

Grundy is a very good mark. He has consistently shown that in his reserves form and nothing seems to be different in that regard now to 2 or 3 years ago. Certainly the degree of difficulty goes up when you are playing against AFL quality opponents but it is his strongest attribute IMHO.

Agree goodes for hall most likely

I agree that just one change - goodes in for hall is the most likely - but quite frankly this worries me greatly as i think we need some spark - and i think brennan in and told to bust some packs and really play a high energy game and then rotate spida/jolly/goodes there for a bit of variety is our best option.

To bring brennan in though means dropping someone - who?

I think it should be ablett

Buchanan must be right on the edge of the 22.

I'd like Schmidt in as well, maybe for Bird who could be due for a rest.

I like the idea of playing Brennan as a forward (and have him up the sleeve in case one of our backs is being towelled up... a big possibility). But I guess Brennan and Grundy are probably fighting over the same position.

                      So for me its:

INS: Goodes, Grundy / Brennan, Schmidt
                      OUT: Hall, Bird, Buchanan

He probably meant in regard to attitude and standing in the team rather than fitness.

Agree with you on Buchanan and Brennan. Maybe schmidt for mal, who is playing gingerly at best, or Bevan

TK and Malceski are both playing tenderly, watching them play it's like they're learning to ice skate. TK especially when he got caught by Thomas 'trying' to run out of defence.

Not saying drop them... but could they be due for a rest??

12 games for an 18 year old in his first season is pretty hard going . He said as much himself in a recent interview!
