I did, I just didn't think it was even close to report worthy.

He actually had a good game on Sunday.

Given Monty's penalty, how is it that Kerr, with his record, only copped 3 for blatantly punching a Richmond player in the face?

The major difference was Monty's was classified as high impact (3 points) while Kerr's was low impact (1 point).

Yet another example of an attempt at a bump that went wrong with dire consequences for the perpetrator. The bump is heading the same was as the drop punt, torpedo punt and flick pass.

very harsh but they are at least being consistent I guess with the hardline penalties. Might give him some time to freshen up I guess, perhaps he can use it to practice set shots.

They reckon he wasn't going for the ball, but IMO he was going for a fair hip and shoulder.... 1 week. Very harsh.

Just saw it on Ch 10 Sports Tonight.

Unless there's a reverse angle that shows him lining up the Hawk with his eyes: one game tops. Went for a legitimate bump on the ball, didn't raise the elbow, kept his centre of gravity low, and the Hawk was just in the wrong spot. Sure, you go the bump and negligently cop someone high, you can get a game: but that's it.

There is no analogy at all between a legitimate bump that goes wrong, and a punch that is completely illegitimate from first to last. And a legitimate bump is intended to hit the body heavily. So there is something pretty fundamentally wrong with the system if an action like Kerr's is put at an inherent advantage because it's a 'light impact punch' compared with a 'heavy impact bump'.

To say that this sort of thing is worth 5 games without a guilty plea discount, is an opinion that would be weird from people who had never played Aussie rules. When you know that the MRP is comprised of experienced ex-players at the top level, you can only guess that their brains have been confiscated and taken to Mars for re-programming since their retirement. Which went horribly wrong.

I am baffled by this decision. Seems as if poor Monty has borne the brunt of Goodes' and Hall's perceived light sentences.

Monty wasn't going for the ball, sure, but this wasn't a situation where Hodge had his head over the ball and Monty chose to go the bump knowing he was going to make head high contact. The majority of the contact was clearly to Hodge's body - on live viewing I wouldn't have said the contact was high had Hodge not got up rubbing his head. So based on other cases (such as Goodes' two 'negligent' assessments - especially the Selwood one) I can't see how the high contact can be deemed reckless. And "high" impact? Come on! The body contact was forceful but within the rules of the game. I find it hard to see how the small head high bit of the contact was high impact.

Too bad Monty isn't a thug with a tribunal history. If he was he would have only got 3 weeks!

If he gets 4 weeks then Kerr should get 10.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

Actually the time off is , well, timely! afterall he is to become a daddy any day now - so he will have a few weeks to bond with the little one, so there is a positive to all this!

"no impact, airswing with reverse pike, resulting in the opposition player diving like a flat pansy" definately worth a week - Wakelin should have got a week for bad acting.

Lucky for Fletcher he didnt break Corries jaw this year. I dont think he got any suspension from memory? (maybe a week or two) In the current climate he would have been out for the season. Shame it wasn't this year really.
