If it's not Sydney then I hope the Dogs win this years flag. I like the way they play.

Just imagine if Goodes, Hall, O'Loughlin, McVeigh, O'Keefe were all at their best along with Barry, Bolton Matner, Kennelly and Malceski we would be a serious threat.

Barry's got his average in Canberra 3 goals, 3 behinds.

Another positive are the late goals are helping lower the amount of damage our percentage would have taken if it had stayed like it was around halftime.

16 points is better than a 30+ loss which it was.

            Positives out of the game:

Great debut by Vespa, Bird hit a career-high 23 possessions, Macca kicks a career-high 6 goals.

Well despite the loss I don't think that was such a bad effort. We really just lost it in the second quarter and some poor misses. The 'Dogs certainly have a lot more work to do if they are going to get anywhere near challenging for the flag. We are still a long way off at the moment, but we should still make the top 8 and a decent chance at top 4.

Wonderful game by McVeigh. He's had a very good season but it looks like he's really arrived as a prime midfielder.

I was pleased with our younger players.
Great debut by Veszpremi despite missing a few gettable shots.
Although his disposal was errant at time, as was his decision making, it's good to see Bird getting so much of the ball and I'm looking forward to him continuing to get better.
Brabazon shows some signs of being a useful running outside midfielder.
I still like the look of Brennan - they just need to fix his set shots. His form is okay but he stabs at the ball.

ROK up in the midfield is good as he works so hard, but his disposal is still poor. Yet again his effectiveness was less than 50%.

Very good return from Crouch. Seems to have regained some of his pace and gave us some decent drive from the half back line once he became accustomed to the game pace again.

White was hardly sighted. Not really sure what his role was.

Defence was surprisingly poor today. Both C Bolton and Richards were down on their normal form and Murphy beat Bevan pretty comfortably.

Ablett is giving us nothing in the midfield.
                  J Bolton was just average.
                  I don't see we're getting a lot from LRT.
                  Hall is really struggling.

We really missed MOL and Goodes.

So, we win 3 out of 4 quarters easily and then go gown by 14 points. That's really very frustrating.

Murphy was playing a lead-up CHF role. He was the avenue through which they channelled a lot of their attacks.

                                Game Over...

                                Western Bulldogs 17.11 113
                                Sydney 14.13 97

An ordinary performance by the Swans overall after a ripper of an opening quarter that was completely undone in the 2nd quarter. The backline was a rabble throughout the game, creating turnovers and resulting in easy goals from the Doggies. There were plenty of opportunities of goal that were missed.

McVeigh was clearly BEST on ground with 26 disposals (14 kicks, 12 handballs), 2 marks, 3 tackles and kicking 6 goals 1 behind. ROK was great with 28 disposals, Hall and Richards were pretty good with 10 marks and Hall kicking 3 goals 3 behinds. Bird had a great game with 23 disposals and 6 marks, Veszpremi had a solid debut with 17 disposals but his goalkicking will improve after his 1.4 effort. Brabazon was pretty good in his debut and Brennan probably would've done enough to stay in the side for another week.

Next week is a MUST WIN against the hapless Dockers, who should win against the Eagles in the Derby. B2 will really need to step up to take care of Pavlich, the midfield should do enough to control the game but the forwards need to kick accurately at goal.
