Keep Goodes at Full Forward Campaign

    Hey Guys,

Just starting a campagn on RWO to keep Goodes at Full Forward for the remainder of the season a la Jarman in '97 & '98 in the Crows premiership winning sides.

The forward line COULD take on a very dangerous look about it in the coming H&A games and finals (if we make it) with an in-form Goodes, Hall and O'Loughlin as key position targets and the likes of O'Keefe (also can play tall), Moore, Veszpremi and Buchanan as small forwards.

Of course (and I hear the naysayers now) the midfield will lose some grunt with the loss of Goodes however as long as Jolly, Kirk, J.Bolton, McVeigh, Bird, Jack and co can win 35-45% of clearances I have faith in our defence - particularly if Malceski is back providing run with Kennelly & Mattner (absolute sensation this year) - and re-invigorated forward line compensating for this shortfall.

So who's with me in the 'Keep Goodes at Full Forward' campaign ??!!

Could be a great coaching move by Roos - or it could die a death of a thousand cuts....
Well somebody told me, You had a boyfriend, Who looks like a girlfriend,That I had in February of last year, It's not confidential, I've got potential

Roos said a few years ago that Goodes would eventually play out his career as a full forward, so why not start now.

It's a moral he will stay there, Roos has already hinted.

I have no doubt he is still injured, though it appears he can run and sprint in straight lines. If you note on Saturday night he caused all the damage by fast straight leading.

It's either play the role he played on Sat. night or not play at all.

I'll take Sat. night thanks very much.

Did I happen to mention to anyone how much I love Goodesy??

        EIGHT.

        Count them.

        EIGHT.

        I'm so proud.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Great game at FF no doubt. But how are we going to dominate in the middle if our best, all purpose attacking weapon is parked n the goal square?

Not to put a negative spin on things, I luv Goodesy and his 8 goals at full forward were magnificent, but we have to remember his first 4 goals I think were kicked on a kid who was playing his 14th senior game, was giving away around 15 kilograms and about 6 inches to Goodes. Nonetheless, I still think we should play him there, just dont expect him to kick 8 goals on a Matthew Scarlett. The one thing it could help out with is taking some heat off of Bazza, i.e. Bazza not getting the best defender week in week out.

I'm hearing ya. They talk about how good Buddy is however, come and see me Buddy boy old pal old chum when you achieve the following:

              * win a AFL Rising Star Award as a Ruckman
              * get moved to CHF/FF the following season (2000) and kick 45 goals in your second season
              * win a Brownlow in the Ruck in 2003
              * get moved to CHB in '04 and perform admirably with a stuffed knee
              * moved back to the midfield in '05 & '06 and have great seasons capped off by another Brownlow in '06
              * storm home in the second half of '07 with 16 votes in the Brownlow in the last 6 matches to finish equal fourth
              * moved to FF last week with a dodgy groin and kick a lazy eight (with more to come)

Name a player in the comp who could achieve the above in all those positions ??!! Only the Goodes can.....

True, on the flip side it is no good if that all purpose attacking weapon (ie. Goodes) has no-one to kick too when Hall is double and triple teamed. The midfield will just have to step-up with Goodesy at FF.

I'll sign up. He will beat all full backs in the comp (including Scarlett) one on one if we KICK IT LONG and MOVE IT QUICKLY. The issue is who do we play as a strong midfielder in the traditional ruck rover role. Drum roll please . . .
no not the Bevantor but i think Brennan should be given a shot at it. He is strong, runs straight at the ball, is a superb mark and has a good football brain. His kicking is inaccurate but he can kick long which is what we neeed. So Goodsey to FF and Brennan to RR.

Why hammo his carear isnt over yet.Once Micky's back and Hall is doing ok we will be right.Just send Goodsey out on the ball and he can drift back or forward if we need him.Dont forget we also have ROK drifting into the F50 as well.

With Moore,Scooter,Monty(hopefully),Bevan and Jack floating into the F50 as crumbers we will do alright.

I'm more worried down back with LRT and do we really need Melcho back but i'm afraid IMHO he wont be back for the rest of the season, his knee is gawn.I'd also like to see Timmy back but i'm not too sure whats wrong with him ATM.

didnt we all think that goodsay was going to win 3 brownlows?

i always thought it would be in 3 different positions.

                            03 - ruck

2 year gap for position reassigning

                            06 - midfield

2 year gap for position reassigning

                            09 - forward.

Wouldn't that be sensaaaaational. 100 plus season and a Brownlow at FF in either '09 or '10 for the Goodes...
