    Reserves Round 18: v Belconnen @ Manuka 17th August

Side named, obviously before Leo withdrew and Malceski replaced him. Nice of them to list the numbers of all players, looks like liz's inquiry had an effect.

Top of the table clash and possible GF preview.

If they want to give Jack a bit of a change of pace for a week (and also try out Fossie) it makes sense that this is the week to do it if it's the last H&A game. Presumably they have rules about players playing in finals who haven't played a minimum number of H&A games? If so, resting Jack from the senior team in the upcoming rounds would mean he didn't play at all. Though some competitions I think just have those rules when the senior team is out of finals action.

Nice to see the numbers, as Ugg said. Next week (assuming they make the finals and there is a next week) they might get the names right too. When did we sign RBN's twin brother, Nathan?!!

On my reading of today's results, Ainslie butchered a huge chance by losing to finals-missers Queanbeyan. This has the practical effect that we can't be dislodged from 2nd spot unless Belconnen beat us by approximately 250 points.

This is great news. Presuming that the finals are run on the usual top 4 system, this means we have the double chance (and will meet Belco again in the 1st week of the finals). For us to get booted out of the finals first week in a comp that has so darn short a season, would be very unfortunate for our league team. And we are a reasonable chance to lose every final, as the anti-Swans rules of the comp are even more anti-Swans biased for the finals.

The kid got cleaned up by Sandilands last week, and although he came back on, it has had to have hurt. Being hit by a two ton truck. He probably needed a bit of down time to recover. Bet he has a belter in the Ressies.

Well done ..what was the standard of the top ups I wonder? That seems to be the decisive factor in the close games.

What a great effort by Jack, dropped from the ones and put in a best player effort in the two's - obviously put his head down to prove a point ,very impressive:

Must have been a strong breeze at one end, very lopsided quarter by quarter scores.

That's true, but no doubt he's also benefitted from the experience he's gained in the seniors and used it to go back and impose himself in the reserves. Hopefully this week's relegation was just a case of freshening him up and he'll be back where he deserves next week. There must be question marks over Crouch, Moore (injury) and Ablett (form) going into next week's game.

Kieran Jack played his first game in the Swans reserves all year and gathered 43 touches while veteran Ben Mathews had 34 touches. Tall Jesse White finished with 7.4

Kieran Jack was clearly the Swans? best, notching up more than 40 possessions and showing great leadership. Queenslander Jesse White also had an impact from full forward kicking seven of the Swans? 14 goals.
Nick Smith on the half back flank, Ben Mathews, who had 30 possessions in the midfield, Ryan Brabazon who played on ball and on the wing and Brendan Murphy at centre half back were also good in a game of high quality football.

I dont think Jack was dropped for form at all.

No sense in getting him beaten up by Geelong when we could use his pace and long kicking against the Pies. I noticed the Dockers were crashing into him the whole game as he tried to tag Palmer.
