This side took on the best in the league, went toe to toe with them, and copped on the chin a 39 point loss because the best in the league is 39 points better than us. The difference between this loss and, say, the Adelaide game, clearly indicates to me that he coaching staff have already 'woken up to themselves' as you put it; and if you can't see that difference, then I don't know what game you were watching.
Sounds a lot like the old "honourable" loss excuse....

Geelong put the cue back in the rack at 3/4 time and decided enough was enough. Had they not, it would of been 10 goals plus at least.

We will finish up finals fodder.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I'm more confident of winning our last 2 games after watching the performance we put up against the Cats then I was before that game.

It's a big 'if', but if we played like we did on Saturday night, we will win our last 2.....easily.

              Absolutely.

I used to be happy just to make the finals, but now that I've had a drink from the premiership cup ... I think I expect more.

Annie, I'm not coming from the 'if you don't win the flag you may as well not be there' angle. I don't agree with that thinking and want to make finals every year, even if it is to get knocked out in week 1.

I'm coming from the angle that this year Geelong is so superior, everybody else is finals fodder.

But Geelong have to play someone in the granny. Even if we lose, geez I'd like to be there!!

                    Dunno about that.....

We played OK in the first and second quarters but were really exposed in the third. The last is a bit misleading as Geelong had clearly decided that they were happy with their win.

Playing against Collingwood in Melbourne won't be easy. Our only saving grace is that it's at the dome.

The bottome line is, if we make it to the second week of the finals, then we have done well, thats all i am expecting, anything less than this will be considered a failure, anything more than this a bonus. You have to look at things a bit more realistically. After winning 6 in a row, we have lost 5 out of the next 7, the 2 wins were against Carlton by 2 points which we were lucky to win, and 4 points against Fremantle, which again we were lucky to win. We can play well against the better sides, but only in patches. Its not that we are doing anything different to what we haev done in seasons 05 & 06, its just that others have improved remarkebly, and something tells me it will only be another season or two until teams like Richmond, Carlton and Essendon improve out of site the same way Hawthorn, Kangaroos and the Bulldogs have in recent times.

BBB appears to be finding form.

If the planets align, say with Goodes, ROK, & JMcV we are cooking.

I don't get the pessimism here. Still a reasonable chance of fourth. Don't forget, other teams are feeling the heat also at this time of year - everyone's tired. Even North.

One of the upsides of a finals system (as opposed to first past the post as in the EPL) is that if we were to draw Geelong in a 1 v 4 game who is to say the Cats don't lose three players to injury by half time and suddenly become vulnerable in a one-off game? I know it probably won't happen but it's happened before (Swans 04 elimination against St Kilda comes to mind). And if you are in the right place at the right time things can fall your way.

That's sport, you've got to give it every chance or you may as well not get out of bed.

We're still a chance in this finals series. May not be a great chance, but who wants to throw that chance away?

My 6 y.o. (refer LEFT) has just done the ladder predictor and we have finished at 4.

Take that as a statement of fact.
