    Season is nearly over what do we need for next year?

    Our team still seems to be a little light on for quality talls and key position players, especially with the pending retirements of Bazza, O'Loughlin and Leo.

    Who do we believe would be a possible aquisition that could contribute to our team?

    My thoughts are that Hawthorn seems to pretty much have their forward set up in place with their tall forwards (Buddy & Roughy) and a concerted effort to get Tim Boyle who seems to be out of favour, would be well following up on.

    Knowing Hawthorn's past trading experience they would obviously fight tooth and nail for him, but the player must surely look at possible options at another team that may place more value on his game style. He is in the prime of his footballing years (24 y.o) and surely simply being a back up is not sufficient.

    Any other ideas from anyone?

    I agree. Tim Boyle could be an option for us. He has been down this year with the emergence of Roughead..And he did have a good season last year, improving greatly. Not sure, how good of a kick he is though.

      Tim Boyle could be a very handy acquisition for the Swans I reckon, though as has been said Hawthorn are unlikely to want to just give him away...

        True, especially with what they wanted for Peter Everitt. They wanted us to get rid of Nick Malceski for him.

        2nd or 3rd round draft pick should suffice for Tim Boyle, I would dare say.

          What we really need is cheaper alcohol at the gounds.
          Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

            Sausage rolls at the SCG!
            I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
            We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

              Ryan Murphy or Adam Campbell from Freo.

                Given our penchance for recruiting gumbies, misfits and hasbeens, it might be easier to put together a list of players we don't need:

                * Courtney Johns
                * Jason Laycock
                * Setanta O'Ailpin
                * Chad Fletcher
                * Rhys Shaw

                  Adam Campbell I like, use to like Murphy, not any more, don't think he'll make it.

                  Use to like Johns, not now, too injury prone
                  Laycock will be a good pick up, but he will stay at Essendon
                  Don't know if O'Ailpin will make it
                  No to Fletcher
                  Rhyce Shaw I wouldn't mind giving a go, could be a very interesting pick up.

                    Although, you could put Heath Shaw and Alan Didak into the equation, most notably, Alan Didak.

                      O'Loughlin will be going on next season, Barry hasn't played as a true tall as much this year and Hall still has a year or two left.

                      I think a far more urgent concern is an absolute lack of class and/or pace in the midfield. We have nobody along the lines of Kappler or Maxfield who can really burst down a wing or send in really penetrating kicks. In-and-under players only get you so far.

                        Far to many pretty boys in the team IMHO. I'd like to see us recruit Ling, Fevola and Roughead and see if we could take a bit of "glamour" away from the "glamour team" that is Sydney.

                        Does anyone know if Peverill's available or if Fraser Gehrig could be lured out of retirement?

                            When I was there for the Freo game, I was so pleasantly surprised to find that I was able to buy a chicken burger with REAL chicken on it. It was a whole real fillet!!! Im sure that the nutritional value offset the hot chips really well....
