Game Over
Collingwood 18.10 118
Sydney 10.13 73
Although the Swans won the final quarter, their overall performance was poor right from the start and the hoodoo continues. The Swans were pantsed in the forward line, back line, midfield and ruck (except for hitouts). The backline was the major weakness with multiple changes to match-ups and the likes of LRT, B2, Barry, Grundy and Richards comprehensively beaten. Kepler Bradley could've done a better job on Cloke than LRT... or Barry.
There weren't too many positives with the exception of Hall and Moore kicking 3 goals each, although Hall was frustrated and Moore receiving a few gift goals. B1, Kirk, Mattner and Kennelly were the better players racking up disposals and trying to get the ball in the forward 50. Vespa showed that he could play up forward but was absent throughout the second half and might be the next Nick Davis (plus effort and tackling pressure).
The "star quarterback" Bevan was ordinary, Spida is almost certainly done as a footballer, Goodes forward line impact was limited, Grundy got plenty of the ball but his role in the backline is questionable, McVeigh was disappointing and is likely to miss out next week, ROK was okay but was beaten at times.
With Brisbane losing to the Blues, the Swans have done enough to make the top eight with a much better percentage than Richmond who'll no doubt beat Melbourne (unless we get pantsed by 200+ against Brisbane). Still it would be great to get the win over Brisbane next week at the SCG. If the backline functions the way it did tonight, Brown and Bradshaw will kick at least 15 goals between them.
