The change has already started. I suspect Longmire has done most of the match day coaching this year, with Roos on the bench. You can't seriously expect him to pull the strings at ground level.

Good point, although it would seem he hasn't had freedom to make necessary changes to strategy or onfield personnel.

Before the mid-season break most of us were applauding Roos for introducing exciting new blood and some attacking flair into the team. Im not necessarily defending Roos, but I just think that our problems are more at the player level rather than the coaching level.

Remember the aftermath of the Brisbane game? We were beside ourselves with optimism after the fantastic display from Moore, Bird and Barlow.

You can't blame the coach for that rubbish served up last night. Blame maybe list management to a point and not playing enough young players last year. This year's pattern has been almost a carbon copy of last year; tailing off badly at the end whereas previous years has seen us come on strong at this time.

I can't help seeing a corellation with David Missen departing. We may have an ageing list but almost no one last night had the engine to run to a contest.

For 2009 we still have a fairly experienced nucleus even allowing for the obvious old bloke departures. We just have to hope some of the players that the 2's watchers say are up and comers come on.

I have no reason to sign off Roos yet and he has a season left on his contract, and I am sure he likes the $$$$. Also he has pride, would be unlikely to break a contract and would not I believe walk out now and leave the club when it is seemingly ready to slide.

It seems to me that that the coaches forward, back, centre etc are the ones they need to look at. John Blakey, is that 3 clubs now he has been at and all 3 have seen a simlar pattern. Just bringing up his name.

Is he our forward or midfield coach? Whoever our midfield coach is would have be staring down the barrel.

I would give some of the assistants the ass.

Our forward line hasn't fuctioned as well as it has in the past since Blakey has taken over. I would give him his marching orders.

I think you can to some extent. I think coaching has to do with the fact our team runs around in a big pack and seems to have little idea how to make space or position. Coaching also affects our rebound and attack into the forward line, both of which are erratic and confused. Coaching also seems to be part of the reason why most of our team runs into the forward line and clogs it up when we're attacking. I view our problems to be players and coaching.

I'm a little surprised how many now want Roos to go. He's a relatively young and successful coach. What will Longmire do?

Maybe Paul can adapt / adopt to a different style of play. It seems to have been assumed by many here that he can't. Other coaches have - Eade did, although it came with a change of club. Then there's 'career coaches' who have lasted & overcome the playing styles - Matthews, Malthouse.

I've been disappointed how quickly other clubs have turned on their coaches when not all is rosey. Adelaide springs to mind for self-imploding.

You can only do so much with the cattle available for selection.

That said, I find it intriguing that Davis was not brought back into the firsts (pre-injury)........ Swans lack of scoring fwd's has hurt them all year.

Tried B2 and Leo spent time at FF, but only for about 5 mins each. Both missed getable marks and were not seen there again.

Bringing in Horse means changing virtually nothing. If you want new cattle and a new direction, then the new coach should come from outside the existing structure,

I dont know why everyone assumes that Longmire will not bring in any changes. Most assistant coaches have some say but the overall plans and strategies are lead by the head coach no matter how much he says its a caring sharing environment.

Roos was an assistant coach to eade and the game styles changed as soon as he took over. I think it is very shortsighted to believe that just because he is on the coaching staff means that we will get same old same old if Longmire was to takeover.

I think Longmire is one of the best credentialed in the league to take over. Who else would people suggest . I think it is ludicrous to put names like Maxfield out there as he hasnt even coached at assistant level and even good judges are saying that so called future gun coaches like Voss need some time as an assistant.
