His chasing could be nearly lethal. He put the Gadget Man over the pickets in front of the Ladies Stand after one ferocious effort. The only thing that Davo has put over the pickets was himself after Willo (playing with a dislocated shoulder) had set up the little champs goal, and taken a hammering after delivering the pill. Davo forgot to acknowledge the great man's effort in his onanistic orgy of self congratulation.
If the truth be known, I think it was Plugger who introduced the "Hands on the hips in disbelief move" to Leo Barry. And whilst Leo is good at it, he is no where near the master.Comment

I dont understand it...ND is a guy who can kick the ball, reasonably accurately for goal. So what, that he's not a chaser...he's a creative player, mercurial if you want to call him that, and theres room for both types. Id much rather Nick be there in our forward line, standing alone in the goalsquare, waving his arms furiously while the dumbos upfield kick it to Bazza with three men on him, than freezing his $#@$ off down in Canberra.
It has a nothing to do with how he chases or whether he lays tackles, he simply does not get to enough contests and when he does he doesn't bother to impose himself on the contest.
Take a look at Leon Davis last night, flashy player same silky skills as Davis.
The difference......................
He is constantly moving, getting to contests and when getting to those contests wanting the ball to do something with it.
Fat too many time Nick Davis is happy to hang back and put a hand up to a team mate to kick it to him or he will move to a contests only to become a witches hat around the ball or stand over the contest hailing a cab.
Nick Davis is a better player than Medhurst or Leon Davis, problem is he is not capable of showing that with his attutude and probably never will.
I think he will remain on our list for nect year, but he is going to have to bust a gut to build a fitness base next year and when he get's his chance get on his bike and get the bloody ball.

That's really very clever.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

That's quite funny.
All jokes aside, Plugger was simply too dangerous for players to constantly run off him - when they did it was at their team's own risk (as it would be their best backman, and often two were required to stop the big man).
Davis is obvioulsy a very different sort of player - chasing is mandatory in the foil position he played - especially when matched up on quick rebounding defenders.Comment

Rose coloured glasses my friend. For sure, if Plugger chased and caught you, you were in serious trouble. But the latyer happened a hell of a lot more rarely than the former and that wasn't very frequent at all. Perhaps the fact that he actual caught someone once is why it's so vivid in your memory???Bevo bandwagon driverComment

Our problem isn't our attack - if we feed the forwards properly, they'll be ok. Our defence & midfield is the problem. We have a ruckman who won't belt the ball forwards, even when we are being soundly beaten in the middle & our defenders aren't up to AFL standard at the moment - LRT is very unco-ordinated & Teddy takes a great makr but doesn't really have a footy brain. Paul Roos game plan must be questioned (who told them to handball to players standing still & surrounded by opponents - why would you short-pass in defence to a player under pressure, if no options you go long). I'm sure allot of people in Syndey are very frustrated - I'm not in Syndey & I'm frustrated. Thank god for the Olympics as a distraction. We need players to be honest with the club & themselves, starting with Spider. I hope he retires & doesn't have to be pushed!2005 will live forever (or until we win another premiership)

Veszpremi is an exciting prospect. I think he'll star in years to come!
Definitely missing Magic at the moment. Losing him just mucks up the structure so badly.
Nick Davis can go, no problem.
Getting anyone back in won't change the fact that we're on a one way ticket to Nowheresville this year though.Ar aghaidh chun bua 2007!Comment

His sterling efforts against Essendon are seared into the memory. He caught and threw one pretender so hard his teeth are probably still chattering and he wiped out another at the MCG on the cigar smokers wing. I can't be arsed looking up the names of these neville nobodies but the chase was on.
Bad move, for everyone concerned.
Young got poleaxed, Plugger got reported (thrown out before it even went to the tribunal) but worst of all, that was the collision which stuffed Pluggers groin and he was out of action until returning in the prelim to kick THAT point.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment
