It looks grim, and Vesz is probably our tallest natural forward and best overhead mark as a result. It'll be Vesz as a main target.

It'll be a couple of years before Goodesy cements a permanent place up forward, so until then I'd be betting on Vesz.
I don't think so mate. Veszpremi is only 181cm. Our main forward target needs to be taller than that.

You need to have a decent key forward and the Bulldogs recognise that is one of their weaknesses. Not many sides do well without one, and typically those sides that do have great midfields.

yeah, i cant se any light at the end of the tunnel. There is no life after Kirk, Hall, MOL, Barry, kenelly, crouch... kirk would have to be one of the most inspirational captains ive seen, his leadership skills are 2nd to none, its a shame to see such a sucessful team just crumble away

The only shining lights i can see as far as younger players are, jack, bird, vez, moore..

We definately need cousins, give him a 2 year deal i say.

its dissapointing.. but thats footy.. its like one big revolving wheel, your at the top for a year or two, then the wheel turns and you begin the start of your ending.. yeah i dunno

I think we should all take a deep breath and be brave enough to take a couple of years at or near the bottom. High draft picks and youth are key and we all know it!
this game is all swings and roundabouts and rebuilding is all part of the process!
Can Sydney fans face the fact that we need to get rid of a few older guys to make way for new, fresh players??

Agree but diasagree... Doggies have a pretty top notch midfield atm but at the same time, they're very short in their fwd line, still, it gets the results. The Doggies are pretty "short" but still manage to put winning scores on the board I guess is the point I'm making.

After last nights performance,a second team in Sydney you have to be joking.

The Swans fans from Sydney will leave the Swans in droves if we dont make the eight plain and simple.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

Ever thought that the idea of a 2nd Sydney team was about growing the game in NSW. Can't rely on the Swans to do that every season. This season is proof of that. As a Swans supporter, even I struggled to watch the game after the first quater massacre. Sadly, we are @@@@@@ this season.

Our problem there is twofold. Firstly, we don't have an especially good record with top picks. Secondly, the top picks in the next few years won't be all that good, with two new sides taking the best kids.

I think some poeple are over estimating this. There will be lots of young players around as the 2 new teams will trade many of their draft picks for ready made players. They want to be competitive from the start, not in a couple of seasons time.

Fine, so the picks are in the hands of other clubs. It still prevents us from using them - unless we sacrifice a few quality players.

Ah, Beaussie, you must watch through the pain and look past simply where the ball is going, to see why we are getting massacred. After half time it was all academic.

The issue for us is that coming into a period of compromised drafts we don't have much to trade to cash in on the theory that the new clubs will trade draft picks. The Weagles for example have a strong group of youngsters coming through and have now tanked their way to a priority pick. They probably have enough depth to swap I just can't see us having that.

Who can we trade, our 'quality' players will be too old and we do not have boom youngsters either.

The curse of the Swans, our down cycle coincides with the trickiest drafting period in history!

I think it will be tough but I do think the Gold Coast and the Bogans when they come in will trade a hell of a lot of their high draft picks away. If we do well and trade carefully we can get some good youngsters, but it will be tough, especially as others have pointed out when we dont have a great deal of currency in terms of players in our current squad to trade.
