There might be something in that - not so much that they care more about the outcome of the twos game than the senior game but at least it means they all get to play this weekend. If they weren't playing in the seniors, Ablett and Malceski wouldn't be getting games (unless they qualify to play finals while the senior team is still alive). That would limit options for next week (and beyond!!) if anyone gets injured tomorrow.

More likely than not that Vespa will play, unless his groin really is no good. There's a fair bit of smart money on some non-ROK mystery last-minute withdrawals (unless there are a series of shock results before we play).

Has anyone considered the horrible thought that the elim final could be Micky O's last ever game for the Swans? I know I have, and it chilled me. No great coincidence that him being available and playing great footy coincided with our winning run this year.

There were two separate indicators that pointed towards Ablett playing this weekend despite him not being in our current best 22:
      a) presumably ineligible to play in the 2s final and after one week off, the club wanted to keep him match-fit in a nothing-game in case he is needed next week; and
      b) promote him as having some kind of trade value (which, to be honest, he doesn't really).

Not sure how Malceski is travelling?Definately not as intended earlier in the season.
I must admit I was concerned to read that Luke Webster (Freo), who had the same knee surgery as Mal,has retired after only thirty something games.

Webster's had a lot of injuries in his career so it's no surprise he'd retire (or be delisted). Malceski will recover and become a better player in 2009 if he has an uninterrupted pre-season.

Cool. We need a hard time. Win by a lot and we've fired all our shots come first week of finals. History is unkind on big winners for the following week at finals time. I'd prefer to lose by 2 pts in a tough game.

Our chance of securing a home final has improved considerably thanks to Freo but we must beat Brisbane and hope that either Adelaide or the Aints lose.

Yep. Things have certainly now got interesting after the Pies loss tonight.

The Pies were really pathetic, Mick will give them a spray all the way home on the chartered jet.

How do some people get the idea that this game is a dead rubber? A win is VITAL if we want a chance of a home final. Despite an erroneous posting in another thread, we may not know til Sunday (Aints game) whether it's possible or not. Also, the Crows game will be 30 minutes behind our tonight.
