Midfield rotation!!! Fair dinkum the only time Ablett gets warm is running through the banner.

Some one said they hoped he played a blinder. Got news for ya, he's never played a blinder.

Interesting to read some of the populist opinions of most supporters who have no idea of a real fooball club culture... who just want the exciting new boy to play no matter what.

4 goals was a good effort, and he adds a lot of enthusiasm, but there is more to winning finals than playing a crowd pleaser. Teenagers are very prone to inconsistency, and finals are a different story to playing a team out of the race. How many possessions did Vespa get in the first half when the game was up for grabs?

I'll leave the call to the premiership coach.

Good to see Grundy out as I predicted, and if Bevan stays out of the backline, I'll be feeling very good about beating the Roos.
So Paul Roos is right on every decision he makes is he? We may as well just pack up this site then if you can't provide an opinion on selection.

If you want to go on disposals, Crouch and Ablett had 10 and 13 respectively. Both of them are very, very lucky to be playing league footy at all.

You need experience to win finals but you also need some class and enthusiasm. We're light on for both.

Well done on your 'predictions' - top work

I've never quite forgiven him for that kick across the face of goal straight to Cousins and the despair it caused me until we scored again.

If by blinder you mean not seen, then he probably will. It has solved one mystery, though. It's official that Ablett swallows.

Sounds like you're the one who has no idea mate.

You pick players on form, not age. That's just a basic of footy.

You can't drop a bloke who is in good form just because "teenagers are very prone to consistency". That doesn't make sense.

NOG is very prone to going missing for long periods and generally contributing sweet @@@@ all, so why is he in the side?

LRT is a clumsy giraffe with absolutely no footy smarts, so why is he in the side?

I'm not in the least bit surprised by the selection news (and having read Roos comments I suspect he'll probably play in any case). And I agree on inconsistency of younger players etc

But don't think those two comments about last week's game can go unchecked,

Which two of his goals were gifts? Yes, he was lucky Dalziell ran under the ball and it bounced into his hands but he created the contest and he still had to finish off a tricky shot from a tight angle. Yes, he received some help from Spida's shepherd but he still had to take the long shot in the first place. And the goal he crumbed off Hall was hardly a gift. He was exactly where a smaller forward needed to be, swooped on the ball in an instant and used his pace to get clear of anyone else. Just because a player doesn't create and kick a goal all on his own, doesn't mean it's a gift.

Where was he when the game was still to be won? I doubt there was much of the game at all when the result was seriously in doubt. But given that he had a large part in setting up Malceski's goal and kicked the third goal of the first term himself, I'd say he was involved enough. Add to that he won himself a HTB free and shot on goal early in the first quarter. Yes, it should have been a bounce rather than a free because the Lion had no prior opportunity, but at least he was there laying a tackle.

So yes, he didn't dominate the game possession-wise, but he made a good number of his possessions really count. Maybe he doesn't necessarily "deserve" to be in the team over someone like Ablett but that doesn't alter the fact that his game on Saturday was far more impressive than a raw stat of just kicking 4 goals.

Right about young players being inconsistent but that's normally when they've played a full season and they're mentally and physically stuffed. It's different with Veszpremi as he has only played a handful of games.

Optimists can try and talk their way around it but the reality is that Vez should not of been dropped. You can't drop one of the better performers from the week before just because he's 18. Makes absolutely no sense.

I'm bewildered. I can only imagine it's a mind games thing.

Rick Charlesworth, great hockeyroos coach, once said "You don't mess with form" (or words to that effect). Hope Roosy knows this.

I think the omission of Vesz is ridiculous but there is nothing I would say that hasn't been said already by my learned colleagues.

So much for giving the new guys finals experience, huh? The leadership group has clearly grabbed control and convinced Paul a premiership is on the cards.

Here's hoping for a late change.
