Didn't Michael Voss have a wee bet both ways? Prior to the game he tipped Sydney, at half-time North. I like Vossie, but I liked him more as a player ? particularly when we beat them!

I've never cared for 10's 5 minute warning and their "count-up" clock, much prefer 7's countdown variety. Ten would argue their's creates more "suspense" particularly in close matches.

Ooooh...I hate that "5 minute warning" crap!

I far prefer that to tv stations showing how long to go in the quarter which destroys the tension of not knowing when the siren will go. Channel 7 & 9 used to do that & really close games would be wrecked, as you knew team A would win.

I still reckon they should do it the old way & have the time going up in the quarter, going into time-on the normal way.

I also prefer watching (or listening) to games that have the clocks ticking up, rather than down - and I'd much prefer the players didn't know as well (although that is much more difficult to achieve).

Pretty good point.

Whether the clock is counting down or not, the players these days know exactly how long there is to go as a general rule.
Kind of defeats the purpose of suspense when those controlling the play can do just that and alter the outcome.

Can't think of any instances when I could see the countdown clock and I was wishing it wasn't there.
