I've got it paused on the moment he does it. He stands on the wrong side of the post, bangs his chest and then goes to hit the post with his hand before the camera pans away. It's quick but he definitely goes to slap the post.

i did truly believe that he just called it a behind but we were sitting up the other end last night and i was watching the replay at 7am this morning so i'll blame that!!
It's quick, so unless your looking for it, you'd miss it. The commentators certainly did.

Scott, these days the goal umps always slap their chest first to single a behind, then signal the point, and then bash the post.
I think it's meant to allow play to restart quickly because the goalie doesn't have to run to the post before he signals - and the full back can't kick in until after the signal.

I still say your on drugs.

The commentators made the comment that it wasn't. But without any proof myself, I'll have to believe you, especially now Alison has jumped the fence.

Yeah but that's a different issue entirely.

But at least you agree that the commentators made that call at the time.

Well I'm glad we sorted that out!

I thought it was a goal, but then I saw him signal that it hit the post and assumed it brushed the inside. I was at the other end, so I'm going to give the ump the benefit of the doubt on this one

The good thing in the end is that both decisions had no effect on the final outcome of the game.

I was in Aisle 116 row 12 and i saw the Harvey goal clearly and he was over the line when he hit it. Also the boundary umpire was in good position to see but yet he did not come in to tell the ump!!

I was also in a good position to see the Vez kick and kanga touch and clearly the Kanga defender touched the ball but the ump was going to pay it. Unbelievable. I was shouting out pay it, pay it because of the previous error.

Do you think the goal ump was going for the square up because of the previous mistake??

No I read your post fine. Especially the bit where you said you could sort of 'forgive' the goal umpire for awarding Harvey's behind as a 'goal'.

That's what I was responding to. Your comparison of that incident with the other umpire stuff-ups is of no consequence to me.

                            Didn't cost us the game.

im not sure why some experts want video replays. human error tends to level out its just part of the game. Who wants video replays interrupting the footy all the time. How would people determine when to go to the video?

would the team lodge a protest? what if the ump is sure and has just stuffed up big time?
Theres not much left to say

It seems the review of the weekend decisions is even weirder than the decisions themselves.

I don't know how Harvey's kick could have been ruled a legit goal in hindsight.
