And therein lies the problem with Sydney AFL fans - a real fan does not want delayed telecasts.

Rang channel 7 and was told that highly unlikely that Swans game Friday night will be shown live into Sydney but that a decision will not be made until Thursday. Given the crowd on Sat night and all the negative news about support for Swans/AFL in Sydney I would say that it is not highly unlikely but definitely not going to happen. I am very disappointed.

          Right on RP.

I'm just happy that it's not being shown after MIDNIGHT. It was refreshing to see last Friday night's game at 8.30.

1 hour delay is fine by me.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

If Seven won't show it live then they should give it to someone who will (Foxtel).

There is no excuse to show the match on delay. Football fans need to be more demanding. Personally I hate watching a game which I know isn't live.

Actually the delay does have some benefits - you can always listen to the radio first - then if it sounds like we are doing well watch the telecast later knowing what to expect - if we are getting flogged - then you dont have to watch - and your blood pressure will thank you for it!
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

I guess they should tell Channel 7 then, still shown at 8:30pm on their tv guide.

I am hoping the AFL website is correct and that somehow they have convinced Channel 7 to show it live - maybe they know they did a disgraceful job promoting last week that they have bought all the advertising time slots that BH&G would normally get. As for the delayed telecast I would not be able to wait the hour to see what was happening and would listen to the radio therefore I would only then watch the game after it had finished depending on what kind of game it was and whether we won or lost by a lot.

channel 7 didnt have Saturday nights game - channel 10 did - but they were still showing the add to get to ANZ at 3/4 time during the delayed telecast - whats all that about?

Yes - and it goes for 7.5 hours (till 4am) They must be expecting a lot of extra time needing to be played.

Let's hope the AFL schedule is correct.

Now showing a half hour delay on AFL website - commence at 8.00pm in Melbourne and 7.30 in Sydney. Hope they don't bother with all the pre match crap and just go straight to the game but I doubt it.

First bounce for Fri night is 7:50pm, so if coverage starts at 7:30 in Sydney, it will be live.

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

I used to do this as a teenanger, back in the days when they first started televising some night games (in the 90s). I did not want to miss the game, so I would listen to it on radio. It would drive my folks nuts because when the game finished, I would go and watch the last quarter on tele. My folks could tell straight away whether we won or not ... I either looked happy or dejected!
