IF/MMG ... you wouldn't have been that wet. An elcheapo poncho would have you set!!
Mel ... you're preggers again!! Congrats. (Two kids under 3 ... you go girl)
Everyone else ... why is is so important to get a "pass out" at the game. Is it so you can go and have a smoke? Both the SCG and ANZ Stadium cater for smokers inside the boundary of the venues. I know at the MCG you get a pass out to go outside and have a smoke. Why do you need to have a "pass out" at one of the Sydney venues?).
As a Sydneysider who never was used to pass/scan-outs I never miss them. I don't smoke & rarely eat much inside the ground on game day in any case. At half time I go to the bar for a drink & it's all good.
But people down here take their pass outs seriously. All a tad mystifying really.

The low crowd for the Kangaroos Finals game can be explained as follows:
1. ANZ Stadium. People particularly from the Eastern Suburbs and the North Shore hate that place.
2. Linked to ANZ, the Swans' performance against Collingwood in Round 14, as well as the subsequent loss to Geelong in Round 20, was so disappointing, many folk were getting sick of travelling all the way to Homebush, only to see the Swans failing again and again in big event games at Homebush. Think about it: the Swans have only won 2 of the 9 largest crowds ever to attend Stadium Australia. (By contrast, they have won 11 of the 12 smallest crowds ever at the same venue). A lot of Swans fans were not so much fair weather, but had simply become very disappointed that Sydney had failed to meet expectations during the months of July and August. After all, it was the first time in many many years that the Swans had had a relatively bad second half of a given season.
3. Again linked to ANZ, the weather was bad. ANZ is not a great place to watch footy if you are not under cover, and it?s cold and wet. And, it's not just the place; it?s the getting there as well. Herein, this August was the coldest August in decades. Then we had two days of continual rain leading to the game.
4. The Kangaroos are probably the least popular Victorian team in Sydney.
5. The AFL arrogantly over charged ticket prices and under sold the marketing. This is the most worrying factor. It shows that the AFL has very little idea about the Sydney market.Comment

Simple, freedom of choice - why should you be forced to stay inside the ground once you enter. If you get to the game early or say watch the reserves then why shouldnt you be able to leave and go get some food or have a drink outside before the main game starts.Comment

I get it ... pass outs are a "Melbourne" thing.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Price was a killer . Demetriou and the rest of the AFL are too greedy (and stupid) for their own good.
After bagging the crow eaters for years for fielding small crowds at finals I was embarrassed to be sitting in such a small crowd in Sydney. Everyone knows the South Australians have no money otherwise why would they put up with Neil Craig as a coach but Sydney is the home of the Flash Harry's with mortgages to burn and unsold boats on the harbour.
I took out a third mortgage to buy three top seats and so did eight of our fellow Swans regulars. We put up with the rain and the forebodings of a drubbing at the hands of the lowly shin boners. Bl**dy good thing the team turned up to play otherwise we would have been really annoyed
We sat over the players race and watched Laidley run up an down at the Quarters' ends. His face at the end of the third quarter was worth the money
Best game we enjoyed all year. Even better than beating West Coast
Now we are going on Friday night to the MCG. Where the seats are cheaper than at the EF!!!!!!!!
I don't like Demetriou but he hates usMr Roos knew what he was doing'

My bad was thinking Circa 96 in the final round..
Anyway here is another that thought it would be to cold (From the Herald Sun and taken from the Kangroos forum on BF)
Former North Melbourne tough man Glenn Archer was flabbergasted when he received a message from the club's No. 1 ticketholder, Test captain Ricky Ponting, on Saturday.
He sent Archer a message to say he would not be at Sydney's ANZ Stadium for North's clash against the Swans because it was too chilly.
Although Ponting was raised in the cold of Tasmania, he now lives in Sydney.
Speaking on Triple M, Archer said he hoped it wasn't too cold when Ponting went out to bat or Australia in England next year.Mr Roos knew what he was doing'

I live in the leafy Blue Mountains, so a half hour trip to ANZ is much more convenient that the 70+ min trip to the SCG.
In saying that - ANZ is a flawed stadium in all forms. The majority on the ground seating is at either end of the ground, with very little in the middle (bad for AFL), very little seating with elevation (only used when it is full) - and the area that Swan's members are designated sit in has massive obstructed views the closer you sit to the wing. The swans say that they will be reviewing their membership package this year - it seems absurd that the most loyal fans get the crapper seats. There is no way this will happen - but they would do better level ANZ and build a colliseum type square ground stadium like emirates stadium with a smaller/configurable lowerdeck and wraparound stands.
The AFL promotion was terrible, the ticket prices are far too expensive (surely the impertive should be to fill the stadium rather than price the whole game out of reach).Comment
