            I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
            We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

              I went but was disappointed by;
              1. Weather - couldn't they have a roof and heating?
              2. Attendance - the boring crowd didn't get into the game (or umps)
              3. Transport - Had to walk for nearly ten mins. My designer suede jacket was drizzled on also.
              4. Beer - $6 (or $6.10??). Couldn't find a 30 y.o. Cab Sav in the stadium.
              5. Ticket cost - family ticket $32 face value on each - 3 adults & 1 kid for $128....
              6. Game - Swans played a stoppage brand of boring footy, unlike NM....
              7. Vespa kicked < 4 goals.

              Finally, my cucumber sanwiches were confiscated at the gate for being anti-social food.

              Seriously, great night.

                  I bought tickets to see a band about three months ago knowing that the only way it could possibly clash was us finishing 5th or 6th and getting the Saturday night home final. It was all looking good until Rd 22!!

                  In terms of why people didn't go, I think many posters have summed it up already. Price & weather. It's not hard to get to ANZ Stadium if you're prepared to take a train or bus, plus you can sing the team song with other fans on the trip home again when we win!

                    Only 1 of the 4 family members went to the game - all others committed months prior to other activites.

                    Bad selection of game time by AFL, Fri PM, Sat arvo or Sunday arvo were all ok. SAT night not good for us! :-(

                    I did miss tghe live game however watched the home recorded replay till 3:00+ AM - held out finding out the result from the returning family member - made her go straight to bed and I hid from her to hide the body language and game comments...

                    Bugger came to mind when the timing was announced.

                          At half time i trudged off for a pie and sauce. Not because i needed one and despite the price gouging. Just always have at half time. Even when the (ex) ball and chain had packed the fritz and sauce bread rolls. Anyway got to the front of a snaking food queue only to be informed by a dissolute youth that there were no mystery bags left! 19,000 brave souls in the mausoleum and they had run out of pies by half time FFS. The game is in worse shape than we realize.

                              There is a lot of Marie Antoinette about Demetriou. Apart from the fact they were/are both shagging slappers, the slippery spiv's "let them eat cake"attitude has the teeming (at least 19,000) citizenry starving without a bloody pie at half time! Crowns have fallen and heads have rolled for less.
