We were surrounded by like-minded die hard fans and it was the best game I had been to all year in terms of atmosphere.

They gave the figure of the low corporate box sales on OTC last night, but it takes longer than a week to get guests organised for that.
Firstly I would love to try the food stalls but unfortunately when I need a feed at half time , I cant get a passout.

I agree that atmosphere was awesome . For some reason the "sydney" chant really works well in those gloomy conditions.

In regards the corporate boxes, I agree this is misleading as generally those type of functions are not something you can organise at the last minute especially with them basically forcing you to cater the boxes (cost arounnd $5000). Yes in another piece of ANZ stadium wisdom if you have paid for a box for the year but you dont want to fully cater it for an event, they will let you sit in the box but you arent allowed to buy any food or drink from the stadium catering and bring it in. As a result no one is interested in even taking the seats as you have to whiz down to base level at the breaks and quickly swig down a drink or stuff something into your mouth before you can go back to your seat. This is the sort of think that drives corporates away.

Which brings me to the end of the pie story. After being told that there were no pies avaliable inside the mausoleum, after the game as we walked back to what the Who The @@@@ Is That Goverment airily calls a train service, there was a bloody stall with a mountain of FnT's. Outside. Unbelievable. The greatest sporting administration in the greatest sporting complex in the world couldn't organise a hot pie.

        They couldn't organise a root in a brothel !!

For what it's worth - you don't get FnT's inside, I think Villi's have the contract to supply microwaved pies en masse.

The FnT's outside are heated in a pie oven - trust me, there's a huge difference.

I took food for our group - honey soy chicken wings (cooked so well that the bones were dry when finished); sweet chilli octopus; garlic prawns; and devils on horseback. I like to eat well.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Gastronomically Annie you are flying with eagles. I'm roosting with budgies. i went with a Kanga supporter (he used to follow the Roy's, for some people life is a vale of tears) and a disqualified horse trainer. Fair dinkum both of them would struggle to slap some Vege on a Sao.

They're both stalkers. Goodes and Bevo, respectively.

Must you fix me up with everybody? (Not that I don't appreciate it sister, but can you at least find me someone who "understands" my love for Goodesy?)

Bevo-lover will just have to take and number and wait patiently - just like everyone else.

I know I'm living vicariously through others!!! But would you really like to be with a chap who wants to stalk Goodsey as much as you do - I mean the competition and all.(do the maths luv!!!).. at least with Connolly he would be too preoccupied with stalking Bevo to even give a rats about Adam - that means that Adam is all for you!!! And I'd like to be the worlds oldest flower girl thanks!

It's refreshing to read RWOers engaging in something constructive. I didn't wade through all 11 pages and I suspect the ideas and relevance to topic deteriorated toward the end as it is prone to do with threads of this length. However isn't this just what the AFL and the club needs to hear? Is there some way the contents of this thread could be forwarded to both bodies so that a disaster of this nature doesn't happen again?

I didn't notice it in the parts that I read but I'm not sure if anyone mentioned the impact of a live telecast for a game when it was well known that pre-sold tickets were poor. Doesn't it follow that for a final a live telecast should only occur once the pre-sale tickets reach break even point or at a stretch a sell out?

A very good thread. Happy to give it a four and a half stars out of five rating.

FWIW I was there with my daughters and their friend in a group of seven. Right of screen diagonal to the right hand behind post. Not far from the spatially clustered Roos fans. We could have sat almost anywhere but remained in our allotted seats throughout. Fantastic game and the crowd that did attend were sensational. Very vocal and passionate.
It's very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who's learning to play violin. That's what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver.

Wasn't mentioned at all, but a very good point.

In Summer in Sydney we don't know if the one-dayers are on live from the SCG virtually until the day - if it's a sell-out (which it often is), we get the match live - if not, it's delayed.

Same thing should happen for ALL Sydney games. If you want it live, go and see it; otherwise hang around for a delayed telecast.
