It was a free last week, but wasn't awarded. Because Johnson didn't get the deserved free last week, doesn't mean Chapman shouldn't have got it this week.

As for the late call, it was called from the umpire downfield.

The umpiring was shocking. In regards to the downfield 50 - to make an error of that proportion in a GF is unbelievable. It also doesn't matter how many frees Buddy gives away every week, it matters whether there was a free there in that particular instance (with Scarlett). There was NOT. It was ridiculous. I think the umpires are very lucky that Hawthorn won.

How many times did Geelong players throw their head backs pleading for a free kick when they got tackled? Seems like a good tactic.

My comment was that it is the sort of thing Franklin does and why he gave away 5 free kicks. That one and a few others may have been poor, but my original point that I disagree with both the comment "some of the worst umpiring I've seen at any level of footy" and the comment "Blatant favouritism towards Geelong" remains unchanged and it would most likely not have had any impact on the result either way.

            And it helped them heaps.

If you pick the ball up and are grabbed straight away and try to bust out thats not prior opp. Its pretty simple if you have resonable time to dispose of the ball and dont take that your pinged. The other bad one thats always let go is when someone gets tackled and the ball spills out and the ump says play on knocked out in the tackle. If he didnt have time and tried to break the tackle no free.

If you have time to try and fend tackles off then you have enough time to try and dispose of the ball.

Hawthorn didn't win this game, Geelong lost it.

I cant believe how many points they were kicking in the second quarter. Mooney's efforts on the halftime siren summed the match up in regards to Geelong.

I agree. As Mooney lined up for the kick I said if he misses this Geelong will lose. A number of commentators noted the affect on morale and fatigue of the absolutely dominant midfield constantly pumping the ball forward and getting no reward. You could really see that in the last 8 min of the third quarter and in the last quarter.

As I said to the people I was watching it with ... it's very, very hard to play 25 or 26 games in a row for two seasons. The cats were well and truly buggered by the beginning of the last quarter.

We played the same amount of games that the cats did, and at the end of the 2006 granny, it showed.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Pity the side we played against hadn't played as many games...

Theres a diff between fending off and trying to break out of a tackle, i dont remember saying he tried to fend them off

You people obviously don't get what I'm trying to say.

Geelong have played very hard footy for two years running (probably even three). By the beginning of the last quarter, they all looked pretty buggered. All I'm trying to say is that for a team that isn't on stimulants, it's a hard slog.

What an enormous and ridiculous claim. What is your source to say that 22 WC players (or even one) were playing while using performance-enhancing drugs?
