    Peter Street (2nd ruckman)

I say yes. Or someone like him. Unless the club takes the view that LRT will, from this point on, be a career ruckman and pushes him solely in that direction. Let's face it, not likely.

Even if Currie is ready to play firsts in round 1, 2009 (which is a massive 'if'), no credible team should have just 2 specialist ruckmen on their list. It just leaves you wide open for disaster in the case of injury. The idea that Jake Orreal will be in a position to play ruck in the AFL before about 2011, is science fiction, and Jesse White seems to be heading away from the ruck direction. Without a mature backup/2nd ruck, we're one injury to Darren Jolly away from getting smashed in the ruck week-in, week-out. Which wouldn't make the clearances look too good, either.

Having already ruled out Jeff White, why wouldn't we take someone like Street for a couple of years (he's 28), ready to plug'n'play, at no trading cost? He's alright; certainly better than Torture, who we paid actual trading value for.

I have just read the St Kilda end of season review in todays herald sun and my eyes lit up when it was mentioned Justin Koschitzke being trade potential. Even though I don't think it would eventuate, I would like to see us getting him as a replacement for Spida Everitt, and introduce Currie next season with Koschitzke playing up forward.
Also Barry Hall should be kept for 2 more years and Michael O'Loughlin retained for 2009, get his 300+ games and retire along with Leo.

Wouldn't be the worst option if we can get him late in the national draft or in the PSD (assuming there is nobody else we want there).

He would have to be an absolute last resort though - he is a low-possession, low-impact ruckman who could only serve as a short-term fix. The only upside is that he wouldn't cost nearly as much as Everitt.

Don't agree - I think they're about on par. I actually can't believe that he has survived this long.

I agree that we need another ruckman but Peter Street is not the answer.

Would rather LRT play as the 2nd ruckman to be honest

At least then his lack of football smarts aren't as prevalent and he can't be exposed 1 out deep in defence.

Plus he has a pretty good tank

I'm not a huge LRT fan but he's 20 times the footballer Street is.

Most stupid post I've read all year!

I don't want Jeff White, but he'd be a million times better option than Street as injury cover for our rucks. and just as cheap.

As I stated on another board, soon someone will be suggesting that we draft Scott West to bolster our midfield!!

I have read some absolute stupidity on these forums in the past couple of days. For a place where swans supporters are represented it sure is making us look like idiots.

No way not street. There is a reason why the dogs delisted him and the dogs arent really blessed in the talls department.

I wonder when people are going to start talking about luring Dunks out of retirement.

Peter Street is a lazy hack. LRT would be a much better option. He may not have the skill set but at least he isn't a lazy lard arse like Street.

For goodness sake, LRT has never had more than 8 hitouts in a game.

I know he's being used as a "better of two evils", but there's no way in hell he can play out a season as a backup ruckman.

Either one of the kids has to step up, or we need to sign another option.

Don't disagree entirely but Street is not the answer. I'm pretty sure he's never had anymore than 8 possesions in a game.

He's had double-figures 15 times, actually. Still not great from 78 games. He did get 47 hit-outs in one game, and got a couple of brownlow votes, but that was five years ago...
