I guess we do owe him and Staker for the 2005 flag.

Don't rate him. Would take him, so we have a third ruckman capable of playing league footy but I wouldn't want to give up too much for him.

It will be a huge ask, if not unrealistic, to expect Currie to play 22+ matches next season.
Currie turns 20 next Feb and I would expect him to manage 10-12 minutes per quarter, broken up into at least 2 spells. I think he would be OK with this level of work, although he will undoubtedly have to adjust to the higher pace and pressure of the firsts. But my impression (from twos reports, thanks ORB and others) is that he's got a reasonable tank, and if younger ruckmen (eg Kreuser) can do it, why not our bloke?
The injury risk is another matter; if Seaby is happy to be a second or third string ruck, OK, but let's not pay too much.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

So when he singlehandedly beat both Jolly and Everitt in Round 1 2007, does that make Jolly/Everitt superduds?

I see another Jolly-like story in him. Held back by a superior ruckman, Cox in this case, White in Jolly's case, just didn't get enough time to fully show his wares.

I reckon that if we were cherry-ripe for a premiership in 2009/10, he'd be an excellent target. It would be a huge risk to assume that Jolly would remain injury free for the whole season and that between them Currie, White, LRT, Orreal and maybe even Playfair could pinch-hit as support ruck.

But I reckon we're in the category of "expect to be / plan to be highly competitive and if absolutely everything goes right, our most important players remain injury free and in good form, and the top teams slip back just a notch, we could well be there or thereabouts."

If they think Currie can step up to become a good contributor over the next 2-3 seasons and they are also optimistic about Orreal, and Pyke is seen as more than just an extreme longshot, there are more pressing areas on which we should be spending our trade currency.

I reckon a team like Richmond would be prepared to offer their second round pick. Melbourne would be mad not to offer either their priority or second round pick. We don't really have much to match that other than our pick 12 or anything we might pick up from an O'Keefe trade, if it happens.

                1. 13 possessions, 23 hit outs and 2 goals is a pretty good game, however Everitt was a "superdud" at Sydney for all but a few games during his 2 year stint

                2. This game was 2 years ago, whats he done lately

                3. Cain Ackland has played a few good games in his career, doesn't mean he's any good.

                4. Quinten Lynch was the preferred 2nd ruckman this year which doesnt say much for him

                5. Currie has had 2 years in the system and lack of senior game time will hinder his development

I just don't understand the obsession with picking up other teams rejects. If he was any good WCE would be putting up a fight to keep him.

You mean the guy who finished 6th in our 2007 B&F?

That's not really the point though, I was merely trying to point out he's not a dud as some here have assumed.

Wet Toast want first round pick for him as well. I'd chance him over Kerr.

That's only if we have another first round pick to use in the draft

Seabys a backup ruckman, to us is only worth a 3rd round pick......though I would pass anyway, we have to bring on our young ruckmen.
What we need are two quick midfielders without them, having another ruckman like Seaby wouldn't matter.
Kerr & another quick might give us another chance at finals time......maybe.
