I'd be a bit freaked out by having a bunch of strangers at a dinner sitting there watching everything I did and taking note of who I did and didnt speak too - geez let these blokes have some space and let their hair down. they didnt have a good year in the end, and probably most didnt want to be there but had to as it was compulsory - they are human afterall.
As for those who turned up late - I'm sure it wasnt intentional, it isnt rocket science either to realise that on Friday night it was a nightmare to get anywhere in the city as it was the start of a long weekend. Add to that serious accidents on the eastern distributor and harbour bridge and that has a huge domino effect.
I'm glad we went to the '05 dinner - it was a great night but even by then the boys were really starting to feel fatigue after a week of partying, they had had enough by that stage and just wanted to be away from all things footy.
