If we lose Beamish and O'Keefe this off-season it will almost certainly guarantee a bottom 4 finish. The Swans will have lost both All Australians for no compensation and unable to even use the freed up salary cap space to bring in a big name.

I think he will go. He could make more money in one night of boxing than he does in two season's of AFL footy.

We're not very good at tanking are we?? Should have done what WC did and dropped to the bottom this year to get the draft picks 'cos next year and the years after will be of no benefit 'cos the draft picks are going to GC. Looks like all the tanking sides are gonna have a good era.

            As I see it too.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Yep, I think Hall will see out 2009 for the Swans before he takes up boxing.

I would be very very surprised if BB takes early retirement - he may have white line fever to his detriment, but importantly he is a loyal man, and I cannot, just cannot, see him walk out on the club. Good luck to him in 2010 though.

I wouldn't suggest an opponent upsets him when he comes to play his final game, whether that be Rd 22, 6 goals down in a final or anytime during the GF.

With nothing to lose and plenty to gain from the view of more 'notoriety', he may decide to start sparring sessions right there and then

I would suggest Mundine would be more than a tad quick for him. We know Barry can throw one but can he take one on the jaw. I reckon Mundine would land a ton of punchs before Barry knew he was in the ring.

You would hope that a super middle weight would be quicker that a heavy weight. However Hall would only to connect one and the little runt would say good night.

I agree, after reading the article this morning, it sounds like he will fulfil his last year of the contract and do it at the end of next year.

He might get in a bit more practice this year.

I'd almost prefer he quit now. We're going to get another 12 months of palaver about Bazza's brilliant boxing career.

It's not as if he hasn't been free of distractions of late.

If he does play next season i hope his last career game (very dangerous proposition for opponents) is against Carlton and he deals with the crims at Vizy Park (FFS) in the last ten minutes of the match (in alphabetical order).

Having Hall up forward next year will mean our chances of having a decent year increase but it would be better for the club going forward if he gave it away. We really need to start giving some younger players a go.

He isn't going to lead us to a flag in 09 so why bother.

Because we don't have anyone else who looks remotely ready to step in and play his role.

Because if Grundy or White or anyone else is going to get extended opportunities up forward, they are better off doing so alongside Hall and getting the 3rd or so defender, not the first, while they get more experience.

Because we don't need Hall to actually lead us to the 2009 flag for him to beimportant - we have Kirk for that.

And because when Hall is on song and barging his way through packs, it is immensely fun to watch. And ultimately - for me anyway - watching the Swans is all about it being fun.
