There's the 'goodwill' rule in place that allows clubs to trade for a pick that they're not going to use, as a way of getting that player to his preferred club. We saw it with Steven King and Charlie Gardiner last year and Anthony Corrie this year. The fact that this didn't occur with Davis would probably mean his chances of getting picked up are close to zero.
Where will Davis end up?

The NFL. Has a huge boot and gets plenty of hang time. Wouldn't have to do much to earn his cash either! A perfect fit.
I'm on the Chandwagon!!!
If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Only problem with that theory is that everyone knew that he was going to be delisted aqnyway. It's been pretty obvious for a while.
It wouldn't surprise me that a number of clubs might be sitting there thinking, Why trade? We're a shot to get him for nothing in the PSD. IMHO, Roos destroyed his trade value about 16 weeks ago ensuring that the Swans would get zero offers (and returns) for him.
Do you seriously think Brisbane are going to use the #93 pick they got from Collingwood for Corrie? Of course not, they wanted to give Corrie a chance to find a club before being delisted and found a suitor in Collingwood................

FWIW, I'm prepared to accept 'laughingnome' take on it that clubs may be waiting to see what the draft throws up before committing to Davis. I reckon that is his only hope.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

The problem for Davo is that it takes a year for most players to come back from a knee, that puts him close to thirty by the time he gets back to decent form, and, as has been documented, not always the most dedicated trainer. All the clubs know this, big risk taking on a player in that position, even as naturally talented as Davo is.

Kidding right - Davis has talent to burn but isn't a team player, Dew was unfit and a year out of the game but played a massive team role - Davis's individual brilliance is what will cost him any chance of playing AFL again - no one wants these types in there squads anymore because of the trouble they create.Carn the Southern Power.....Comment

If you think Davo was hard done by, spare a thought for Luke Watson!
Watson allegedly claimed in his speech that he had become so detached from his national teammates they refused to eat with him, while journalists have recently recounted seeing Watson during this year's Tri Nations tournament sitting on bags next to the team bus in Dunedin, listening to his iPod, while the rest of the side were in the dressing room celebrating their historic win over the All Blacks.Comment

Poor old Davo isn't on the list of delisted guys having been granted permission by the AFL to train with a team.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment
