I actually live closer to ANZ than the SCG (home of the Sydney Swans)
People don't like it becuase it's cold, uninviting, lacks atmophere, narrow wings, crap food...the list goes on

I don't mind the day games at ANZ , warms up the place.

And don't get me started on that thing they call a Brewery out there.

The people have spoken "They don't like ANZ"

Not bad at all. It could have been at Harold park and been a gooden. that's Finals football.

Thats because all us die hards were bunched together at one end and along the western side. That feeling you get when you're at a smaller ground.

For anyone that was at the northern end of the ground, I was the one that got the loo's open after quarter time.

It's still got nothin on the SCG

Glad to see you called yourself a diehard Feathered One , the atmosphere that night was awesome and felt it felt like being at the G in the wet and cold. Your right to has nothing on The Cricket Ground .
Scary hey, we were along the Western Side as well !

If that's the case, why have sales of the "Homebush-only" match passes gone from zip to 10,000 in the space of three years?

Read between the lines. It's a comment that represents utter discust in the way supporters are being treated, so much so that I would dare mention the dreaded 2nd team.
I can't stand going to Homebush now, Why would I want to go there for all the home games.

By the way we've already decided on the Red Zone, SCG games only.
              No ANZ

I love the team more than you realise.
It's this bull about building the supporter base, while creating a class driven seating system.

              Still bitter

You dare to question my love?

Since your good at figures can you tell me

How many people were at the Roo's final?
How many of those were Swans members?
                How many were Roo's supporters/members?
                How many were ANZ members?
How many were general public punters?

Also, are the 10,000 homebush only tickets, over the three years or total this year.
If so, How many of these supporters were at the Roo's final.

                Much appreciated.

With the opening of the Trumper Stand, the club has stuffed up a big opportunity. Members reserve (now Red Zone) memberships have always been capped and in some years oversubscribed because we have to share the area with SCG members. The Trumper has given the club the chance to introduce a second non reserved stand membership at the other end of the ground - the "White Zone" if you like. There seems little doubt that the Noble will be oversubscribed next year, and a lot of very unhappy (ex?) members who wanted to transfer there given Hobson's choice of accepting a crap seat or a huge price increase.

                    1. There were 19,127 people at the Roos final - I was one of them.
                    2. Impossible to say how many were Swans members, but the overwhelming majority were supporting the Swans.
                    3. There would have been several hundred Roos supporters at most.
                    4. Impossible to say how many were ANZ members. Probably not that many.
                    5. Impossible to say how many punters turned up on the evening. There would have been a few though.
                    6. I understand the club sold about 10,000 of the Homebush-only passes this year. Not sure what the cumulative figure is over three years, but it's probably over 20,000.
                    7. This year the Homebush-only passes did not include an option for any finals. I think the club might be working on that.
                    8. I understand how you feel about the membership price hikes. If I renew the same package as last year, its an extra 20% for me.

                    Cheers.

Paul Kelly got more votes than You or I. The members voted for him in the only forum available even if it was structurally flawed. Suck a Sherbert.

                        Thanks for your answers,

I think the total figure at the game speaks volumes.
Despite the excuse of almost no AFL promotion of that game there were many members missing. This could have been due to costs of tickets, weather who knows. But the club has to watch what it does with it's push for more members and this unfortunate restructure they have decided apon.

The only real plus for next year (for me anyway) are those 2 magnificent Saturday arvo games. Old School

Is that after they give away thousands of tickets to the kids who are sitting at the top with their 10 X 50 bins to watch the game? Give us another bull@@@@ survey....the ground needs fixing before it can even be rateed as an ordinary venue. I like being in the SCG cauldron with 30k plus swans fans letting their views be known......as Davis kicks 4 and Mooney cries. When Plugger kicks a point. When Kelly takes on 3 and comes up with the ball. Homebush will never have the same atmosphere.

Yeah, you're absolutely right there. The SCG sure does need fixing. It's like an ancient ruin that's been continuously re-built again and again.

Sure thing clown.....we coukd get rid of that monstrosity next to the O'Reilly as an improvement and wipe out the Members and Ladies Stands and toss out tradition and atmosphers all in one go. I think we must be attending different games of foot ball.....what are you watching? Do you remember the final many years ago against the Weagles in torrential rain.....and 30k that turned up to watch a dour struggle.....roaring our team on!!!! to win!
You can't replicate that at Homebush.

I think you've got you're venues confused. That final against the Weagles in the pouring rain was at Homebush. And the atmosphere at the Roos final this year was brilliant, even though there was just over 19,000 there.

As for the SCG, the only tradition associated with the Members and Ladies stands is a kind of retro-snobbishness and elitism.
