Answer from Membership
Membership dodged the question about the AFL freezing prices and just recycled the panicked email and assorted bull@@@@ message to members.......nothing new there...my Kiwi mate has just bought his new TV....Swans will get nothing from his familyComment

From the Members E News
"Currently the Bronze seating bays are indicated as Bays 1 and 17. During the seating process, dependent on demand, we have the ability and discretion to increase the Bronze seating allocation."
Looks like the club has been swamped by requests for bronze seats, and rather than risk losing these members they are considering expanding the bronze zone. Seems the penny has finally dropped up at Driver Avenue.
I do hope that those who have renewed as Silver in what it appears could turn into Bronze zones are offered a refund.Pay peanuts get monkeysComment

Our membership shrunk by about 20% this year. Makes you wonder what's going to happen next year.Comment

Swans down the gurgler
They won't sell a seat in the "platinum" Trumper stand... what a debacle.....not getting more members...just set about losing them. And the money goes out the door with the fickle sydney crowd...Makes the western sydney team project lool like a joke.....Comment

The Swans have sailed into a perfect storm - a fiasco of a seating re-design (which on its own would have seen off a swathe of members) but which is now coupled with an economic downturn which is likely to be deep and long.
Not all of that is the club's fault of course, but looking only at what the Swans were able to control, they've dropped the ball pretty badly.
Having taken a 20% haircut in member numbers last year, the club should have been holding prices (or cutting them across the board) to keep the current membership intact. Instead they gambled on upsetting the eggs safely in the basket, threw them all up in the air and it seems a good number have missed falling back in on the way down and are now smashed.
Seeking new members was always fanciful given the club's on field trajectory is in a holding (at best) or declining (hopefully not) phase. The greatest indictment on the club's grand, (but obviously ridiculous) idea of chasing 10,000 new members is that the high water mark for membership did not have to be guessed at - the 2006/2007 seasons were always going to be the top of the arc and should have been noted by the club as the effective maximum membership to be drawn out of the Sydney market.
Instead, they embarked on the massive seat re-design nonsense and have now alienated a big part of their core base. We were momentarily seduced by the club's capitulation of sorts on our seats (O'Reilly concourse, going from Gold to Silver), but even then, our family ticket rose by $180 a season.
After much to'ing an fro'ing about whether to rejoin or not, we have decided not to renew. While obviously the increase in cost plays a big part, we are now just basically cheesed off about how it was handled and how we've been treated. If that sounds a bit Mills and Boon, no apologies - so much of what was important in our membership was "the feeling", and alas, it has pretty much gone!
We might get it back eventually, but having our goodwill of many years trashed, it might take a few seasons.Last edited by SwansFan1972; 12 December 2008, 09:40 AM.Comment

plenty of money...
The drags are enjoying the facilities at Club Swans...the family "club" in the X. Where are Colless and his mates these days....did marketing tell them it was a good idea to waste $500,000 on pushing a club in the X? It Smells!Comment

He should go down in the club's history as the biggest nong they've ever paid.Comment

At least the membership prospectus was a high quality production.
All I can say is if it wasn't for the lack of democracy and lack of accountability at the Swans, with all the fickle members (or ex-members) we seem to have, it would be hard to take our long-term strategic plan forward.
I've heard Richmond are expected an overall 20% increase in membership if they get Cousins on board.Comment

Now that I am back in Australia I've got through my mail and am very happy with the changes.
Was handing over $330 last year for all games at the new 'Red Zone'. Now gonna pick up a Lakeside Red Zone for $220 at a saving at over $100.
If I can be bothered to drag myself out to Homebush the 3 Match Pass is only around $40, and as we have 4th games there I can miss the worst sporting event of the year; Swans vs Pies. But, of course, if we're doing well I can cough up the $30 for a single seat.
Great work by the club. I'm saving on last year and I have added flexibility.-Comment

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
