    Skilled

The SCG is not the only grond subject to to recent and current modification.

Skilled Stadium in Geelong is to reduce its all ready low boutique capacity of feral cat supporters in 2009 by between 5000 and 7000.

Even less of them will be there to cry foul on Saturday May 9 when the Bloods swing a cat?

With such a small crowd, you picked some crappy seats to sit in.

Sight restricted seating in the Victor Trumper Stand

The Sydney Swans would like to advise all members that there are seating areas within the Victor Trumper Stand that have a restricted view. These are mainly in the top corners of section 310 and 318. This is where the new stand meets the O?Reilly and Churchill Stands.

As with all sight restricted seating at both the SCG and ANZ Stadium, these seats are removed from the seating allocation for members, ensuring members have a full view of the field of play.

                  Lousy Platinum Seating

Be very careful if you opt for a platinum membership in this stand - how on earth the club can justify classifying Bay 310 as a platinum viewing area is beyond me.

From Rows P-Z, BB & AA, Seats 5-22, there is some element of obstruction caused by the O'Reilly Stand that gets progressively worse the higher you go. I would estimate you would see only 35-40% of the playing area in Seat 5, Row AA, right at the top of Bay 310. The obstruction extends to Rows BB & AA at the top of Bay 311 too. I would estimate about 220-230 seats are affected overall. I'd be spewing if I was asked to pay a premium price for those seats.

As far as the rest of the stand is concerned, there are some great viewing areas indeed, as long as you don't sit too close to the numerous entry and exit points. Again, I'd be spewing if I got a seat with views of the glass-and-rail barriers, and there's no shortage of those.

To top it off, the north-eastern tip of the O'Reilly Stand partially obstructs the new screen that sits atop the Messenger stand in just about everywhere except for Bays 317 and 318. The SCG staff present were also speculating as to how far back the sun will go into the stand, and I suppose no-one will know that until it's used for the first time.

Of course, the views from the corporate boxes are very nice indeed.

I think I'll stick to the Brewongle Stand and cop the price rise.
I'll bet that they remain empty.....those staying platinum in O'Reilly or elsewhere are not going to pay top price for @@@@ seats....it won't matter, there will be plenty of vacancies in the O'Reilly and elsewhere as the swans lose members.

I downgraded my membership, sent my payment via post on Monday and got my receipt in my e-mail on Tuesday morning...they either have the most efficient system ever, or they aren't processing too many renewals at the moment.

I noticed that there would probably be some viewing problems from the new stand fairly early on in construction. Obviously this was not considered when the plans were drawn up.

It could well be that it was designed that way for a "finished" project, after all of the rebuilding has been done.

It has to be said that even at the MCG and Telstradome there are restricted viewing seats. At the 05 GF we were in the back row of the Great Siuthern Stand and we couldn't see the scoreboards unless you lent forward (and got friendly with the people sitting in front of you). At the dome there are restricted viewing seats by each scoreboard and commentators boxes on level 3. So the SCG is not alone in that.

There are more restricted viewing areas than people think.

The new Trumper concourse bays are lower than the O'Rielly bays next to them, so when the ball is in the forward procket/flank/wing area in front of the Messenger, people in the Trumper will have to stand up to see the play.

It's a major transitional design problem due to the fact that the SCG is a mish mash stadium.

Fortunately the cricket crowds will have to go through this first and the Swans will be able to adjust seating accordingly before the football season starts.
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.

I witnessed this first hand early in the season at the Bulldogs game. I took my two boys, 10 and 8, and we sat in the new concourse. Big mistake.

What they (the SCG trust) have done is squeeze in more seating by lowering the incline of the rows. When you look across to the O'Reilly its easy to see how much steeper the rows in the O'Reilly are.

You just cant see the play and for my boys they ended up sitting on the concrete step in the aisle just to watch the game.

I'm surprise it's not in the sporting media as its a major issue in my opinion and I'm not sure how they could rectify it.

                            Never again!

The SCG isn't the only stadium with restricted viewing - it's the leading stadium in Australia for this problem. Bay 310 has just about the worst examples of restricted viewing areas I've ever seen - even worse than the north-western corner of the Brewongle Stand.

                                Don't worry about it....

With the decline in membership they won't be able to sell a platinum seat there...
