I'd like to see a the same 22 for the first 3 games, I'm honestly fairly indifferent as to who it is comprised of (assuming it isn't a completely crazy lineup).I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

In the army of Rome a legion was 6,000 troops with 200 cavalry. Bevo has easily that number of hard core, take no prisoner followers (not flip flopping jelly back fair weather pretenders like a few on this site - no names no pack drill. But you know who you are.)Bevo bandwagon driverComment

You are a silly Connolly. Everyone knows Stewie was a left footer, then again they could both be Catholics.Comment

Bevan's role
You would know better than me that Bevan was the second most accurate kick for goal in the team after Nick Davis in pre season training. His work up forward shows a "goal sense" lacking in a few others.I would like your opinion on this but I feel he is an asset that has been somewhat wasted in defence when the team as a whole defended well but could not kick goals. He has a role close to the big sticks and certainly would find them a lot more often that Bolton2 or Buchanan. I would have used him in the forward pocket as a pinch hitter or goal assist hard tackler to complement the work of Hall.Comments?Comment

Spot on. One of the reasons that his accuracy is so good is that he gets the pill in the central attacking corridor. He is very strong in the corridor, keeps his feet, positions well front and centre and has hands that stick like araldite overhead. If moneybags had gone to the crims then Bevo would have been tailor made to play the mobile half forward. Would prefer to see him as a mid that can play forward. His is very good inside and his tackling is so devastating that he should be in the midfield. Will be better in this role than Ablett. So if any of Goodes, O'Keefe, Kirk, Bolton, Kennelly, Jolly, McVeigh, Malceski - to name a handful - are unavailable for round 1, you'd rather see them sit out all three of the first three rounds just to keep some stability?
I understand the point of not fiddling around with the 18-22nd picked players each week but there are around 14 established players whose long-established form means they have to come into the team as and when available IMO.Comment

Wow, so yet again we are picked by the pundits to not make the finals, yet we have enough quality players we struggle to name our best 22. That is pretty encouraging.
I hope we again make the finals and uncover some future stars as we did last year. This year I want to see Daniel O'Keefe get several games - our 1st round pick in the super draft just cannot be a dud!! Also Meredith, Barlow, Currie, White, Thornton, Smith, O'Dwyer...
I hope that when giving these guys a go, they get at least 2-3 games in a row, rather than in one week out the next.Comment

Oh, no- I wasn't really accounting for injury and in my mind was thinking of purely a first choice 22- if any of those guys you mentioned was left out purely because of a minor niggle and someone else got a nod for a week then fine.So if any of Goodes, O'Keefe, Kirk, Bolton, Kennelly, Jolly, McVeigh, Malceski - to name a handful - are unavailable for round 1, you'd rather see them sit out all three of the first three rounds just to keep some stability?

We've made changes after close losses in round 1 in each of the past 2 years, and I've not really seen it as warranted in either instance. In particular I thought that in 2007 Vogels and Phillips making way for Schmidt and Grundy was a little unfair.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
