I've never understood why someone would bet a lot of money on the flag or brownlow at or before the start of the season, when you have to wait 9 months + for a payout. Seems a bit uneconomic, all those months of forgone opportunity.
The Richmond heavy hitters need somewhere to park the moolha now that Bernie Madoff is experiencing some difficulties.

Because it's just fun to put a couple of bucks where your mouth is. If you think the Swans are going to do well this year then a price of 34-1 won't last long. The longer the odds of your bet the greater the sense of vindication when you are proved right. Also come finals time if you have one long bet still alive you can hedge your bets such that you'll come out ahead regardless with say 4 or 6 teams still in it.

Yes indeed... Coach Terry while at the solarium one day met a pervayor of the piece. It is understood he was encouraged to "sow one on", and the rest is history?

The odds are always tend to be best for the Swans at the start of the season. For them to remain at anwhere near 30+ they would have to have a shocker and probably lose 3 or 4 of the first 5 games.

Anyway it's fun to have and ride it all season. It's very economical compared to risking it week in week out.

I still remember getting $50 on the 21 to 1 on the 2005 ugly ducklings and the bragging rights were better than the winnings.

The rising star odds are up.
I wouldnt mind a little bit of Patty V for $51 after a solid pre season he could be a real chance to at least place!

We demand rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty.

Not good - Richmond have never finished ninth in an odd-numbered year.

I wonder what caused the bookies to lengthen our odds?

I suppose the only question we need to ask is whether we get on now or till we lose a few early games and wait till we're at 50 to 1
