2005 / 6 is still a vivid memory...but am I alone in thinking that we have not managed our list well?
You aint Robinson Crusoe Gary...I couldn't agree more .

I know he is an emergency but noticed Pyke was at the airport on the news. Do the reserves play this week? If so maybe he will be in.

The emergencies fly with the team. If they are needed, hence emergencies, they're no good if they are home in Sydney.

Reserves play on Sunday. So he could be shipped off to Melbourne for a taste of the atmosphere.... then flown to CBR Sunday morning.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

The interesting thing to note is that Roos a week ago was saying Pyke's selection was dependent on whether St Kilda pick 1 or 2 specialist ruckman. And the Saints have ended up going with 2, plus they have a little problem in their key backs. I wonder if Roos might sneak Pykey in for a lower-key debut than would have otherwise occurred had he been named yesterday, with all the media keen to report on his meteoric rise.

Why? A guy of LRT's height is going to be named in a KP far more often than not, and it seems kind of old to be going on about him getting a game 5 years after he became an automatic selection.

You only have to use the 'search' function for 30 seconds, and you'll find dozens of posts that show you are not alone. But the selection of a long-term auto selection in his mid-20s, who played in both of those GFs, plus a young ex-rookie who is exactly the sort of player who needs to be played in the ones if we're to develop our list, is evidence for that proposition?

I've been no fan of Ablett's for a while, but again it's inevitable that a member of the leadership group is going to be picked for R1 if fit. But seeing Crouch on the park is well and truly justified. He was very good, against all expectations, when he returned mid-2008; and you don't keep someone of his age on yr list, if you won't play him when he's fit & in form.

Buchanan is an important player; our advantage over other teams is in large part built on winning more contested footy, and he's a large part of that.

The strangest thing is Malceski on the bench while the likes of Jack are on the park. Normally those named on the bench, start there. Still shy on match fitness?

                  How very Sheedy-esque.

Barlow in for Ablett -- Maybe

I just happened to see Barlow listed on the Team sheet for AFL Game Day Live, instead of Ablett's. Haven't heard anything, but it would seem likely.

Dawson starting on the bench, I wonder who will be lining up on Big Bad Barry.
